Bump!

We thought this was some kind of Melon.. But it never flowers, It just grows and grows and grows...

We're cutting it down this weekend, unless we find out it some kind of fruit or veg

Ooo. um. It looks to me like Kudzu Vine. How fast does it grow? Kudzu can grow up to a foot a day in the right circumstances. It's has been a big problem in the Southeast - see this link. There's an up-close pic of the leaves towards the bottom of the article, see if that matches your leaves. The strong spiraling vines that you have there look a lot like it.

Correction. What you seem to have is California's version of Kudzu. Cape Ivy or what used to be called German Ivy. But the bad news is that California is fighting it just as hard as the southeastern states are fighting kudzu.
