Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

YES!!!

We are experiencing the worst drought in over a hundred years. The rainfall for the last 7 months totals exactly 2". The crops are gone, the cattle are sold and my yard is brown brown and more brown even though I water all the time.

The cracks in the ground around my house are as large as 12" wide and my foundation has moved causing the utility room to slip away from the house..............

Now once we come out of this drought, I might pause to think about this again^_^

We actually lost power today from the thunder and the lightening, but NOT A DROP OF RAIN DID WE GET, Rita. Sorry you all didn't get any either!!

Last night my brother and his wife were trying to fly from Denver to Houston and then home here in Corpus Christi. The flight out of Houston to CC was delayed two hours because of intense thunderstorms.........but I haven't met anyone yet who got to the see the actual rain.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Sure wish I could send some rain : (
Rita you are my inspiration lol!

Cape Coral, FL(Zone 10a)

i am in mourning over my coral tree dying from gall wasps. it is such a huge old tree. my house was built in 1947 so it is probably original to the house. i think i will try to keep the bottom trunk to put bromeliads on.

any thoughts on african tulip trees? a neighbor is trying to give me one.

Luna's cool!

May I recommend a pool party as a strategy for rain. We had a nice banger of a storm yesterday evening while at a pool party! Was wonderful...hope for more!

I'm at work and I just had to update DFW weather with some 19knot gusting winds.! mabe something is coming in now!..hope so...

This is a new Gloriosa I bought earlier this year...these are strange vines...I'm still figuring them out.

Randy, you know I just 'hate' you for that good rain you all got. We didn't get a drop.
Love your Gloriosa!!!

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

Nothing, nothing is blooming. Pulled up all the tomatoes today as they were fried. The purple hull peas and lima beans dried on the vine. Everything has gone dormant as though it were winter. Even the various kinds of begonias I have in pots, in the shade, plenty of water, are crisp around the edges of the leaves. Some of them are dropping leaves like fall.

Lou, we lost our garden several months ago. We all worked so hard for so little food.

Desoto, TX(Zone 8a)

We have decided not to do veggies next year. As you say, lots of hard work for practically nothing.

Okra is doing great. Had some potatoes and tomatoes. Borers got the squash...again.

Ooooooops! waay off topic. sorry

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I am off topic but people will forgive me.......we will plant if we could get good rain again................

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

Been there. We had that really bad drought 2-3 years ago. Lake is still behind but starting to look better. We've only had one rain storm in the last month, but we did get alot of rain in the spring. So sorry you are going through this.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I know the feeling. Brian came out and said..it's going to rain today...and I said...uh huh...show me the wet! He turned of my sprinkler, or rather I should say I let him, and told him if it didn't rain he was going to be very busy watering that night! Fortuneatly it did rain. There is a dark cloud outside the office window right now..mabe another round?!

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Here's the new blog....I've been slowing down! working overtime, and watering...Today is the first day I've taken a picture in a while!

Actually on the other side of the fence is a "pull behind" smoker. That is his pride and joy. Neighbors have company from Nebraska so he will be cooking ribs and chicken on the smoker today.

I dragged this heavy statue from the lower garden because, well it was swallowed up. Dang it's heavy!
