A nice shot of my Rudbeckia goldstrum in front of my house....
Really July blooms
And here are some of the Tiger Lilies just staring to bloom on the back corner of my house.
None of these can even approach the size of the firs blooms when I found this growing several years ago. Those were HUGE!
If you ever got some of my "Baby Tiger Lilies"--it will be several years before you see blooms.....
Nice pics Gita and I applaud the heroic efforts of your pruning. Ric
thanks Stormy... Pixie thought it might be honeymoon... it came without a tag.. we saw it blooming in summer at a local place.. bought it in fall discounted... and now the place is gone.. can't say for sure

Onewish, Honeymoon is a white lily with yellow extended from the center to almost the end of each petal. Eudoxa is an apricot colored lily with a golden throat. Your lily photo looks apricot and it definitely only has a gold throat, not full markings all the way down each petal. There are not very many apricot colored Oriental lilies.
Ditto on the lilacs!!! I pruned my Persian Lilac in NOV!!! Who knew you weren't suppose to - ugh...obviously not me!!! They look scrumptious!!!
Stormy - thank you...I'm always happy when God blesses me with a post rain day that's slightly over cast....colors are SO rich then!!!

Gita, You have one of the neatest most well maintained properties ever. Most men don't keep them as well as you. Your beds and shrubs look great. I don't remember seeing a photo of your Camellia in bloom this year. Did it bloom well?
The Josee lilac blooms at least twice in one season if you cut the spent blooms off immediately. I'm wondering if it will bloom a third and fourth time this summer.
Fragrant???? Did someone mention fragrant????
Stormy, Gita and Onewish...you seem to be surrounded with lily colors and scents. How intoxicating.
Since I am so partial to all the lovely fragrances, I decided to try the double tuberose pearl bulbs in pots on my deck along with lilies, brugs, jasmine in pots with the scented climbing roses coming up on the deck also. I won't know if it's the martini or the plants put me in a state of euphoria.

yes I do remember now Gita... it is beautiful...
RRR... there is NOTHING like the scent of a tuber rose... one of my favs.. just wished they lasted longer
there are a lot of good people on here that's for sure... that was nice... and a beautiful dahlia
I had a really nice DG experience this week. A man named Mitt read my thread in the Iris Forum asking for help with how to protect Iris from voles. He read that they had eaten half of mine. He sent me an entire box of beautifully trimmed, nicely labeled Iris. Wasn't that wonderful?
Turns out he is a Philadelphian. I asked him to join us here. But he says life is all about Iris for him. He sent me photos of his crosses, which he is planning on registering and selling next year.
stormyla, what a nice gift!
look what just popped up- tuberoses at caladiums 4 less

that is really nice Stormy... very cool
Mitt sent me a box of irises when I was getting my iris garden started. Thanks to him (and I didn't know he was a man) I have a spectacular iris garden now.
Gita- Your junipers are lovely and Kopper King is beautiful.
FYI/reminder for next year http://www.touchofnature.com/index.htm had some excellent prices on their tuberoses last year - esp. when they went on sale. See this old thread: http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/842761/

catbird--Thanks! I am plugging away pruning all these shrubs. it is brutal work--especially the Hemlocks. I had to teeter on ladders to get to the top and crawl between the house and the bushes to trim that side--my 5' ladder in hand.
I really topped the Hemlocks! Cut a good 2' off the tops--down to bare nubs. Looks ugly, but it will re-grow. I just have to keep them a presentable height, as I like to put X-mas lights all over them--if I get to it....If I don't--i don't!
Today I did one of the Junipers.....That is all hand-pruning! Cutting each and every stem off by hand with my pruners so it still looks "natural" when i am done. Got the other to go yet.....Then i shall be done!
Here you can see the before and after pictures of the 2 Junipers.....I like the wispy look of all the new growth, but you just cannot let it go! Considering these came with the House 40 years ago--I think what I am doing is working......They have stayed fairly attractive.....Now--the back side is another story!!!!!!
See the hemlock on the left? Se the sorry, bare stem sticking up at the top? It is quite thick and I just cannot trim it off any more......
The left Juniper got trimmed today--the right one will be--whenever i get to it.....
mine looks all scrawny this year... yours looks great!
Hey Hosta lovers, here's a pretty good deal on 4 year old plants.

Allison, I LOVE the time lapse shows.
thanks Jen.. I think this one came out better than the last set .. Randy got the camera a bit more stable so they flower is only swaying in the wind... not both
Wow, the month of July is almost over and I've missed so many photo ops! I was in this area last week cutting back the limbs of the Dogwood on the slope and grabbed this one of the Monarda and Aconitum blooming. Neither one of these plants are in an ideal location - they both either lean or fall over and the blooming Hydrangeas get buried under the Aconitums :( Maybe one of these years the Hydrangeas will grow tall enough to support the stems of the Aconitums!
yes they are pretty
