Really July blooms

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

I get the biggest kick out of these Mini Hosta when they are blooming. This one is all of 6" across, I looked up it's name, but forgot to write it down. I take a notepad into the garden when I'm taking photos, but even then I forget to record some of them.

This Oriental Lily is Golden Stargazer.

I'm always out in the garden this time of year staking the lilies, dead heading and weeding. The smell from the lilies is intoxicating and such a joy. But I came back into the house with arms and legs just full of lily pollen.
This Oriental lily is "Satisfaction".

These Echies were planted under the Black Walnut and did not bloom for the first two years. There are 3 of them and now they are over 4 feet tall and blooming like crazy. The nice thing about growing them in semi shade is that they never get that drooping leafed, gasping for a drink look. Today I threw an entire bucket of water on the two in my sunny bed.

Here's a little Dwarf Monarda. It's less than 12" tall.

This is "Agastache Black Adder". It stands up really well in this oh s windy bed.

This Daylily is "Double Trouble"

I've lost the ID on this DL. It's a small plant with smaller blooms. It needs to be moved to a better spot where it's not so dwarfed by the larger lilies around it.

This Dl is "Orange Fizz". It came frm the Daylily Society sale. Whoever dug it up got some hosta roots mixed in with it. There is now a hosta growing in with it. It's a fairly nice one too

I saw a lily like your white one yesterday at a nursery called casa blanca.... nice scent to it

Maybe we could conspire with Jim to have a surprise part-swap, part-shower at Critters!!!! Plus, we all will want a peek at new newest blossom! Ooops, I forgot Critter reads this. So much for the surprise factor!

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

snort- happy, remind me to give you some training before my next surprise party. I just had one for my DD and the other girls were clueless and aimless- typical teens I guess.

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

Sally, does this mean that the shower/swap at your house is off?

Anne Arundel,, MD(Zone 7b)

Geez! THis IS how rumors get started!!! Chuckle!!!!

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

Onewish, This is Casa Blanca. The differences seem to be that Casa's bloom is larger and pure white, no pink blush on the edges. Also Casa appears to be somewhat more recurved than Crystal.

Ugh...I just realized I have Casa Blanca bulbs I forgot to plant...sheesh!! How's the scent on the golden Stargazer, stormy? Such gorgeous photos everyone...I need to get to work!!! LOL

It's heavenly, Chantell. My whole yard smells wonderful with all of the different lillies. Some of the Echinaceas are very fragrant too.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

both are pretty Stormy

the rain made more fragrance come out of the 6 foot lily... the whole yard smells great

Waaaa--waaaa------

I have been computerless for 3 days!!!! My SonIL is fixing all my problems. He has now installed a new hard drive with a lot more memory than the 18GB my almost 10 yr. one came with. This one will have 80GB. Just as a comparison--all the new computers you can buy now come with about 200MG!

DG seems almost the same--so i could deal with it, but my e-mail page is all whacko! He is coming back tomorrow to see what he can do. Lots of things seem "different".....

I have some more pictures of things blooming to post--just waiting till everything gets fixed......
Meanwhile---loving all of yours!

Talk about WITHDRAWL!!!!!!! NO computer? NO DG! AAAAGGGHHHHHHH.......

Middle of, VA(Zone 7a)

Thank you, Sally...that ones my favorite actually - nothing fancy but like the flower an understated charm....

onewish...mine were late blooming this year....just remember "if you plant them...they will bloom" ^_^

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Chantelle----

I have to, sadly, tell you that the big Brug you gave me--that was labeled "Dr. Seuss" is now blooming....PINK! Alas--It seems to be the same as my Rose Souvelons one.

Please don't be upset! it's OK! I have the CG coming along--if the caterpilars, or whatever, stop chewing on it. That will have the nice yellow flowers.

Look!

Ugh...I rec'd that one on trade - or gifted - so I just went with the name that was given with it....I'm so sorry.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Funny thing--the whole time it was growing, I never thought about that the leaves are NOT serrated--as they would have been if it were a Dr.

Please do not apologize! It was not your fault!
How is my cutting doing? How big has it grown? If it is not doing well--I will give you this one back as I have the big one. NO problema!

OK! I have use of computer back and can post a few new pictures....Nothing too exciting by now--but still--I wanted to share....

My Kopper King Hibiscus, that I moved last Fall, is now blooming. it did not grow all that tall, but i shall forgive it, as it had a lot of it's "legs" severed in the process....
It opens about 4-5 new buds every morning, and by early afternoon, they are already collapsing.....

Here's a close-up.

These blooms are at least 10" across when they are fully open.

Here is a shot of the whole front of my house showing it's new location.
You can also see my exhausting efforts to cut back all the shrubs in front of my house. The ones on the left are now done. The ones on the right still need to be done. I did the Hemlock on the right this morning. Took me about 2 hours--as I had to climb up and down ladders to get to the top. I ended up sawing off the top completely to lower the height of it. All while teetering on my Gorilla ladder resting on the edge of the roof above my front door...Yikes!!!!!

I was totally drenched and exhausted with all the clean-up and putting things away. Getting too old to do all this kind of work--but it HAS to be done!!!!

edited to say that the 2 Junipers on the right came with the house---40 years ago! I have kept them "presentable" by hand-pruning back the overwhelming growth at least every 2 years. Hand pruning means cutting each long growth off individually. When I get done--the shrub still looks nice and natural...and wispy.....
