They are black in the middle and red on either end. Fly, but don't try to sting or bite us. Does anybody know what they might be? Were in South Florida-inland. Here is a pic, but not real clear (they are hard to get to sit for photos) Thanks
These bugs are flying all around our deck
From the photo & the fact that you're swarmed with them, I think they're "love bugs."

They are a pretty big bug, the size of a wasp or small bumble bee. They don't seem to harm anything.
Fly paper and some spray killer should help the population. I have the same problem with flies. I use the paper. any bug zapper should help
Did you just move to FL? I remember when I was 6 or 7 and going down to visit my sis and my father had to put a bra on the front of the car because of how bad those love bugs were.
Bug zappers attract and kill too many beneficial insects.
