I wondered if you can cut back your clematis sometime after it has quit blooming. I have quite a bit of dead in mine and it doesn't look too good.

It depends on when it blooms, although if it was ME, and there were dead vines, I would cut them off to the ground. If it blooms early in the spring you would probably be cutting off next years buds. I have one that blooms early and I've done this, but only got a few flowers the next year. Do you know what kind it is?
