Best/Worse &What did I learnt today/Chat with Friends #114

Eating lunch and watching a clock...
Hello everyone!!
I'm catching a cold, forgot to pay water bill and since it's Friday they close 30 minutes early so I have to leave work 30 minutes early. I would wait til Monday but they will turn the water off Monday even if I pay Monday morning, the gal said once the workers have the order they can't change it, they will have to come back out the following day and turn it back on. Dave would have a wolleyed fit so I'll leave early and pay the darn thing.
Sounds like your son had quite the day Betty. My goodness I couldn't even imagine doing that. Makes me tired just reading it lol!
Well, this cold has got my attention in other places than work, so it's time to focus. Been looking at http://www.memphistravel.com and pretty much everything else that doesn't require looking at this bank statement again.
LK Take care of that knee so it heals fast! Don't want you on crutches for 2 weeks!!
Betty have a great trip if I don't talk to you again before you get back.
You`d better get to the water company Crissy..omg what would you do without water..
I`ve got 50 minutes to fill, eating a chicken salad sandwhich, watching the clock, it`s clouding over...will give me something to pass the minutes away..
Yep, hoping I enjoy..know I had a really good time with her last time, am sure it will be same...
If I remember correctly the hotel had computers in the lobby, of course you had to pay for time but would give me the chance to check up on Jeff...
Hi...

Hello All, I have been on the run, yet again to Rochester.

Thank you for the birthday wishes. I am so happy to share my birthday with your wonderful Roger, he sounds like such an awesome person....I can't wait to hear more about him. You travel safe this weekend....take my number in case you need something.
Happy Birthday Laura....sorry I am late with wishes. My head is spinning of late.
Mary, so happy about the job....it sounds great. I hope I have such good luck finding one after my trip with Betty. I really need it for my sanity.
I just wanted to pop on with a quick hello....I am so behind on things at the house, I have to scoot.
Waving hello to everyone....LK, you feel better and don't over do it, Tubby...same with you, eat healthy...and TRY to not get into trouble. Hope everyone feels better.
Debbie
LOL Betty! Love the e' LOL not quite right!

Your too `sweet` Debbie, you enjoy your special day! Did you give hints as to what you want...
Crissy, it`s ` é that is the correct spelling for my name in french pauzé
ah..go get that keyboard, way of celebrating your week...
Betty, I wrote a letter to the kids titled "Moms birthday wish". Told them about the trip and how much I would really like to be able to go. That we had send Dad on trips for Nascar and such with his brothers and family...and in 25 years I have never left them or gone anywhere. (guilt trip). That they were so generous to help Dad get his motorcycle tires on his birthday....could they think about donating for my trip. SOOOOO will see how that goes! LOL
I have been trying to find a pair of sandlels or light sneakers for all of our walking, not having much luck. DH suggested we might have to hit up a store on our trip...that they might not be so "heavy" as they are up here in the north. LOL
Ok, i am back, yay glad to have caught you in time.
Today was actually his surgery. Was suppose to be 45 minute took over an hour! That bottom one was a real humdinger.
LOL, poor guy, I've got him back to bed and he fell fast asleep in about 2 minutes. Face will be numb until about morning.
No we are not going to Cottage...not in pain now just discomfort.
Wonderhug, Happy Birthday to you a day late, so sorry. I sure hope it was wonderful, and I hope you were able to rest and or play.
Mary, how awsom, congratulation on the new job!
Crissy, you had grand news as well!
Woohooo for you both.
LindaKay, So glad the surgery went well. Good thing they fixed the other things too, Glad your home and getting healed up, yep be sure to get lots ofrest.
Trisha, hope your getting some rest too, and your pulled muscles feel better.
Liz, Patriots blvd isn't far at all...it's by the Harley Store! hmmm, will have to go on tour and find your Costco, Gracious, only you would want to go to Costco, too funny...You going to send your finds home on a plane?
OK, so this AM awoke mighty early, so cleaned my house, and bird house, got laundry going then took Steve. Now geesh, need to work in the yard for a awhile. It's only 72, cloudy but oh so comfy to work in the yard. Started to do some clutter clean up yesterday out front, so hopefully finish that today.
Yikes i am starved so having lunch first...
Well hope you all are having a great friday so far.
see you later.
Waving goodbye, storm moving in, dark and rain, but that`s OK it`s Friday....
Keep well, will try to post from hotel..
OHHH not nice of me..Judy tell Steve to have a drink of rye full strength..might take some pain away..know he`s a beer drinker but the hard stuff should do the trick...hugs

Can someone fill me in on the plans? I'm thinking that she is meeting up with Debbie and they are headed to Sharrans...and Liz is meeting up too.....Any details?
Betty - Thanks for asking....I was selling Radio commercials...now I will be selling TV commercials...and this company is ...as everyone is telling me....the BEST in town... (So why do they want 'lil ole me? I keep asking) The last time I left a job for a new one...there was no such thing as email. LOL!
Kids are great...I got them tickets to a 7 hour Christian Rock Concert at LSU tomorrow....rocktherivertour.com.....they are all going and all very excited.... youngest is here decorating her shirt (I got them shirts too).....with a friend. The others are at friends...
Summer has been great albeit no vacation. DS starts band camp Monday....his senior year ...he'll be Drum Captain and I'm pushing him to get a job now that summer school is over.... DD1 is in summer school...DD2 is just having a great summer.
The back yard is looking good....finally we got some rain ...the drought really hurt us...and killed my marigolds....(But would they have died anyway in all the heat?).....
I'll send some pics....I had a water hibiscus with a bloom about 7 feet in the air...maybe more!
(((HUGS))) to all - I miss you!
Mary
Mary, it is me....your partner in crime. LOL
Betty is in Buffalo until late Sunday with her DM. I won't be able to meet up with her this trip.
As for the impending getaway. We are leaving the morning of July 31st, and heading to Kentucky. I believe we are spending the first night in Ohio....near Cincinnati I think Betty said. Then on to Sharrans. I know Betty wants to hit Memphis and Nashville.....but not sure of other plans.
On way back...I believe we are heading to Illinois to see Judy (Seed) and that Liz will be there also. NOW, this is from what I remember....but I have ADD...so....the itenerary could be off from my mind! ROFL
I am so excited to meet Sharran....and I "believe" she has met my brother at a roundup (Shoe/Horseshoe) preivously....so that is awesome for me also. He speaks very highly of her. Shoe is the one that got me to join DG....four years ago this past week actually! LOL And via here...are the way I have learned more about him and seen pictures. I love it!
Well, I need some beauty sleep big time. So much going on tomorrow with our neices wedding, kids over for birthday, and who knows what else.....I drove to Rochester three times this week, and have been on fast foward all week....so need some shut eye!
Sweet dreams everyone,
Debbie
Hey Debbie! My "twin"....my sis.....
Hello to All!
Well that is SO exciting! Can't you all just pop down to Louisiana for a bit?
I'm so glad you are meeting Sharran...she adopted me early on....Love her!
When do you get back to school? As I remember you were later than us in getting out...
Here is DH with the tall hibiscus....
Hugs,
Mary
Sorry if I can't keep up with everyone.....it has been one H**! of a day...
Got up this morning and finished re-doing the bed next to the driveway....got all of the Retaining stones moved and the bed enlarged.....mom had been working on moving stuff in her craft room....again.....was up in the eighties at this point so we took a break and went out to get an umbrella plant and some bottom plants for the pond....pick up a few bags of garden soil and river rock to finish off the bed. When we returned home Bill arrived for lunch. I went home to fix his lunch, mom had a shelf unit she wanted to shorten a few inches to fit a different location. I thought I heard someone yell and the dog started to bark....I go running out to find that mom's hand slipped and she had cut a big gash in her left thumb with the band saw. The FD decided she needed to go in and have stitches so off we go. three and a half hours and five stitches later we finally get home from emergency. They were so swamped there today I couldn't believe it!
Got a call from Laura, they finally made it to their destination.....10 hour drive! Sage did great, which was good to hear as she often suffers from car sickness.....maybe she is finally outgrowing that!
Did get the plants in the pond and the rock placed around the bed after it cooled down about nine tonight.....got to 91 here today......
tomorrow should be better...MIL wants to go to Morton about fifty miles away to buy blueberries....they have beautiful blueberries at the berry farm about three miles from our house....I don't know why she can't buy those instead.....besides she will insist on driving and she is not a good driver....I hate riding with her (I am not a good passenger even with a good driver).....wish us well.
Betty have a safe and enjoyable trip......loved the account of your son's trip...wish there had been internet back when we did all of our bicycle and kayak trips years ago.....I know how he feels about peoples directions......we asked how far to the summit of one of the mountain passes we were riding over....a driver told us it was only about 8 miles....22 miles later we were still going up hill !!
Waving to all and hope you have a good night....
Here is the latest addition to the pond....

Mary
Mary, I don't think any birthday activities. Rumor has it Shannon is making a cake, but believe it or not....I totally hate being the center of attention. Birthdays cause complete panic attacks in me....and it is highly likely that if I go to the wedding, and they sing to me...I will bolt. My sister in law is under strict instructions this is to be my neices day....totally. Comes from a very messed up childhood...trust me. LOL

The Center for Disease Control has issued a medical alert about a highly contagious, potentially dangerous virus that is transmitted orally, by hand, and even electronically.
This virus is called Weekly Overload Recreational Killer (WORK).
If you receive WORK from your boss, any of your colleagues or anyone else via any means whatsoever - DO NOT TOUCH IT!!! This virus will wipe out your private life entirely. If you should come into contact with WORK you should immediately leave the premises.
Take two good friends to the nearest liquorstore and purchase one or both of the antidotes - Work Isolating Neutralizer Extract (WINE) and Bothersome Employer Elimination Rebooter (BEER). Take the antidote repeatedly until WORK has been completely eliminated from your system.
You should immediately forward this medical alert to five friends. If you do not have five friends, you have already been infected and WORK is, sadly, controlling your life. Get help immediately.
Here you are Girls
I remember this from a long time back
Hope it is new to you all
The One Flaw In Women
By the time the Lord made woman,
He was into his sixth day of working overtime.
An angel appeared and said,
'Why are you spending so much time on this one?'
And the Lord answered, 'Have you seen my spec sheet on her?
She has to be completely washable, but not plastic,
have over 200 movable parts, all replaceable
and able to run on diet coke and leftovers,
have a lap that can hold four children at one time,
have a kiss that can cure anything from a scraped knee to a broken heart
-and she will do everything
with only two hands.'
The angel was astounded at the requirements.
'Only two hands!? No way!
And that's just on the standard model?
That's too much work for one day.
Wait until tomorrow to finish.'
'But I won't, ' the Lord protested.
'I am so close to finishing this creation that is so close to my own heart.
She already heals herself when she is sick
AND can work 18 hour days.'
The angel moved closer and touched the woman.
'But you have made her so soft, Lord.'
'She is soft,' the Lord agreed,
'but I have also made her tough.
You have no idea what she can endure or accomplish.'
'Will she be able to think?', asked the angel.
The Lord replied,
'Not only will she be able to think,
she will be able to reason and negotiate.'
The angel then noticed something,
and reaching out, touched the woman's cheek..
'Oops, it looks like you have a leak in this model.
I told you that you were trying to put too much into this one.'
'That's not a leak,'
the Lord corrected,
'that's a tear!'
'What's the tear for?' the angel asked.
The Lord said, 'The tear is her way of expressing her joy,
her sorrow, her pain, her disappointment, her love,
her loneliness, her grief and her pride. '
The angel was impressed.
'You are a genius, Lord.
You thought of everything!
Woman is truly amazing.'
And she is!
Women have strengths that amaze men.
They bear hardships and they carry burdens,
but they hold happiness,
love and joy.
They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy
and laugh when they are nervous.
They fight for what they believe in.
They stand up to injustice.
They don't take 'no' for an answer
when they believe there is a better solution.
They go without so their family can have.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
They love unconditionally.
They cry when their children excel
and cheer when their friends get awards.
They are happy when they hear about
a birth or a wedding.
Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They grieve at the loss of a family member,
yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss
can heal a broken heart.
Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors.
They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you
to show how much they care about you.
The heart of a woman is what makes the world keep turning.
They bring joy, hope and love.
They have compassion and ideals.
They give moral support to their family and friends.
Women have vital things to say and everything to give
HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE TINY FLAW IN WOMEN,
IT IS THAT THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH.

The Price of Children
Here is something absolutely positive for a change. We've repeatedly seen the breakdown of the cost of raising a child, but this is the first time I have seen the rewards listed this way. It's nice!
The government recently calculated the cost of raising a child from birth to 18 and came up with $160,140.00 for a middle income family.
Talk about price shock! And that doesn't even touch college tuition.
But $160,140.00 isn't so bad if you break it down.
It translates into:
* $8,896.66 a year,
* $741.38 a month,
* $171.08 a week.
* A mere $24.24 a day!
* Just over a dollar an hour.
Still, you might think the best financial advice is: don't have children if you want to be "rich." Actually, it is just the opposite.
What do you get for your $160,140.00?
* Naming rights. First, middle, and last!
* Glimpses of God every day.
* Giggles under the covers every night.
* More love than your heart can hold.
* Butterfly kisses and Velcro hugs.
* Endless wonder over rocks, ants, clouds, and warm cookies.
* A hand to hold, usually covered with jelly or chocolate.
* A partner for blowing bubbles and flying kites.
* Someone to laugh yourself silly with, no matter what the boss said or how your stocks performed that day.
For $160,140.00, you never have to grow up.
You get to:
* finger-paint,
* carve pumpkins,
* play hide-and-seek,
* catch lightning bugs,
* never stop believing in Santa Claus.
You have an excuse to:
* keep reading the Adventures of Piglet and Pooh,
* watch Saturday morning cartoons,
* go to Disney movies, and
* wish on stars..
You get to frame rainbows, hearts, and flowers under refrigerator magnets and collect spray painted noodle wreaths for Christmas, handprints set in clay for Mother's Day, and cards with backward letters for Father's Day.
For a mere $24.24 a day, there is no greater bang for your buck.
You get to be a hero just for:
* retrieving a Frisbee off the garage roof,
* taking the training wheels off a bike,
* removing a splinter,
* filling a wading pool,
* coaxing a wad of gum out of bangs, and
* coaching a baseball team that never wins but always gets treated to ice cream regardless.
You get a front row seat in history to witness the:
* First step,
* First word,
* First bra,
* First date,
* First time behind the wheel.
You get to be immortal. You get another branch added to your family tree, and, if you're lucky, a long list of limbs in your obituary called grandchildren and great- grandchildren. You get an education in psychology, nursing, criminal justice, communications, and human sexuality that no college can match..
In the eyes of a child, you rank right up there under God.
You have all the power to heal a boo-boo, scare away the monsters under the bed, patch a broken heart, police a slumber party, ground themforever, and love them without limits, so one day they will, like you, love without counting the cost.
That is quite a deal for the price!!!!!!!
Love & enjoy your children & grandchildren & great-grandchildren!!!!!!! It's the best investment you'll ever make!!!!!!!!!
Hi Everyone!!
Happy Birthday Debbie, I hope your day is full great joy.
Gotta run, off to a double graduation party...not too behind it starts in 10minutes and lol we are just now getting ready to go.
Oh well, don't want to be the very first.
Have a great day everyone,
Tubby Awe just love those.
Hello To All;
Dh just got back from a convention in Kansas City...are any of you close to there?
Hey Bev - Those flowers are gorgeous....what are the orange flowers? I think I'd like to plant some....they remind me of some at my Great Aunt Ellen's house up in north Alabama....
Hey Deb - well I hope your bday passed by with little fanfare....How was the wedding?
Hey Liz - Headed to the windy city! I lived in Chicago a very short time right out of college...What do you & Judy have planned?
Tubby - you mean your hibiscus are 15' tall? Are they tropicals or water hibiscus? I'd love to see a pic....surely they aren't 115' tall.....????
I love hibiscus...I think they are my favorite flower...plan to plant more next year...I am slowly learning how to grow them....
Hey Judy - can't believe there is a graduation party this late in the year! I've learned so much from you all...I would have never thought graduation would be so seperated out from state to state....
Hugs to all,
Mary
