Echinacea/coneflower - stratification required?

I've decided to start a few perennials in late summer this year and overwinter them in raised beds (w/ protection) as an alternative to starting them very early in the spring next year (always a nuisance). I'm trying perennial foxglove, chives, lavender and would like to try coneflower (probably the mix offered by Park). I've seen some references require stratification/chilling for coneflower seeds and others not - any thoughts in this forum? Any other tips for coneflowers?

I have started coneflowers from seed in the spring and had good results with no stratification,just direct sowed them.They also winter sow well.I have tried both of these methods.Edge
