My daughter sent me this question could someone please help

Leander, TX(Zone 8a)

She is new to gardening & lives in Michigan. She has a seedum that looked like it was split in half she says:
my Seedum in the back yard next to the sun room window that was split down the middle and not standing up anymore? It also was really black in the middle.

I sprayed with Sevens on Monday and still looks like that. Also have one plant in front (not sure what it is) that is like that too. HELP!!!! what is going on?

If you all need a picture I could ask her to send one thanks for all your help again

Pictures always help. Jeanette

They really sound weird. Send Pic.

I agree, a picture would really help. Usually blackness = rot so overwatering would be a prime suspect, but having a picture would really be helpful.

Also, what kind of sedum is it.

Troy, NY

if it's not the low growing, groundcover type of sedum...
the taller ones need to be split up into more plants every few years.
if left on their own, they will split and fall over.
they can start to rot from the middle so you would eventually see rot.
they are chocking themselves.
good luck.

Really!! I got some of the taller sedum from my sister last year and it is doing soooooo good. But, you are saying it absolutely has to be divided? How often? Very interesting. The bees love it.

I didn't think it looked like a sedum I could be wrong, she said' I can't remember what the heck it is. I thought it got purple flowers on it, but not sure. lol'
Could it be asters?

Northeast, WA(Zone 5a)

I'm not sure what it is. Very nice foliage whatever it is.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Def not a sedum.

Possibly a variety of Penstemon, judging by the leaves.

I am not sure what this plant is - could be a penstemon, but I am not convinced - anyway, what I wondered was whether some little creature was using the plant as a resting spot, or a hidden entrance to their home in the ground?
It is a beautiful plant - I hope the problem can be solved.

I must be blind. I don't see any little creature. Oh well. Wouldn't be the first time I missed something.

Westerly, RI

mine have done that. It probally just needs alittle more soil around the roots to help hold it up.
