Joeswife, that is a very pretty flower, and a good picture. What is it?
This is one of my Crossandra with a few blooms.

iIovejesus99, that is very funny.

My joy of the day was seeing a bud on my Rowe Red Banana plant. I have been growing these for years because they have such pretty leaves, but this is a first for me.

LiliMerci, I too have a star jasmine blooming, the flowers will last for only a day. It is so hard to get a good picture of white, there must be a trick. Mine are usually blurred.
I will have to find a Asian Market in Dallas, it will be fun just to see what cool plants they carry.

Rita, I honestly do not know if your plant is a Anthurium or a Philodendron plant but that Variegated Sea hibiscus plant is beautiful even without the bloom's;-) I am a sucker for variegated foliage plant's.

Thank's

Rita, my mom bought the coolest jasmine recently, as a gift for someone and she didn't get me one. I did ask if she sees another one, I wanted one. I has longer leaves and the jasmine is 3 times larger than the ones we usually see. It looks like a small mum. Smells like the asian jasmine they used in tea. I did not have my camera when I visited, but she has promised to get me one if she sees another one. She said the problem is some of them are not in bloom at the asian store so she can't be sure she is getting the right kind.

RIta, I don't think my variegated sea hibiscus plant ever bloom either but I am not sure because I did see them blooming in Hawaii and the flowers, which are beautiful, do tend to hide under the foliage.

I lost my plant that was in the ground last winter and have just started again with a new one. This is a picture of the leaves from my dearly departed one when it was young and still in a pot. The new ones are always red.

Desert rose "Three kings" on the right. Flash washed colors but three kings change it's color as it ages.

Joeswife, beautiful plants, I know that I saw that plant before. I did plant a package of the Gloriosa Rhudbeckia, but they did not make it. My cosmos and zinnias did not do anything this summer either, Some years they last well into the fall and then there are times that the annuals struggle, like now.
Please save me some seeds for next year.

Ardesia, I am glad that you replaced your sea Hibiscus plant. They are a fun plant to have.

Vossner, flowers are seen starting yellow in the morning and slowly turning orange-red as the day passes. from google.

Ardesia, between you and Rita....I now must have a variegated sea hibiscus ! I love those leave's!

Rita, could you show some more pic's of the plant that you were asking me about? If you could, show some of how the plant in post # 6804405 grow's from the back and at the stem's;-)

Did I ever mention that I've been eyeing these huge zinnias at this shopping center close to my house. The flowers are full of petals and they are this pretty purple color. I was so sure that I would never find a dry out zinnias to collect seeds because they replace their plants all the time.

But Saturday night, I went to a bookstore at the shopping center and decided to visit the zinnias and what do you know, they had some dead zinnias with brown petals. I pulled a few of the seeds out. I'm debating whether it is too late to germinate them this year or save them for next year. But I'm so glad to be able to collect some of the seeds. I would have gone to the store and bought some of the seeds if I knew what they were.

We had tons of rain tonight, so they might not look so hot tomorrow. I wished I had gone and pulled off some more seeds today.

I brought them into the sunroom for the winter but they died anyway. Too much work. I'll just enjoy them when I go to Florida or the Bahamas or something. It'll give me an excuse to visit some of those tropical places. :)

I hear you LiliMerci, I love visiting Florida especially St. Augustine.

I have one bud that has opened on my Spider Lily Tropical Giant. I'm going to wait for some more to buds to open before taking picture. It's a cool looking plant.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

I can't wait to see that one.. I have never seen a spider lilly.. are they anything like peruvian daffodils?

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

I do have some other kind of red Spider Lily that are really cool too, but they form in a cluster of 6 flowers to make a full circle. I don't have any photos (lost hard drive), but when they bloom in the fall, I'll post photos.

Nicole, they are different.. really they are.. I wish I had a pic here to show you..
