Not the greatest shot of a male American Goldfinch but I liked the colors when he landed on my planted old wheelbarrow.

A whole plate of Goldfinches.

This Juvenile Red-bellied Woodpecker rules the roost at the peanut feeder.

The White-breasted Nuthatch was waiting for the peanut feeder!

Rose, that Bluebird is absolutely incredible! Love all your pictures, but the colors in the first ones are gorgeous.

Duc, the swallow seems to be quite agile! To me, the babies Orioles look so much like Pine sikens. Since I changed out the feeder to the back yard. The Juvenile cardinal did find the alternative feeder, but it was paitiently waiting its turn after the squirrel gets through with it.

Pelle...nice shot of the BJ...we have lots of them around too.

Nanny...I actually had 2 juvie Orioles in the daylilies yesterday.

This Northern Bobwhite showed up in the back yard today. I have seen and heard them all around the house and shop but this one didn't see me so I was able to get some pics.

I spent last week in San Francisco and this week sorting & editing the tons of photos I took while I was there. Now, I'm trying to catch up on all the threads I've missed and post a few of the bird photos I took.

Seeing all of the seagulls and other coastal birds was a real treat for me. I was even lucky enough to see some western gull chicks. They were soooo cute!

Here's a picture of "mama" with the same chicks.

Here's another western gull and chick.

This is the parade ground on Alcatraz Island. The island is designated as a wildlife preserve and there were hundreds of nesting gulls.

This was a very common scene around the Fisherman's Wharf area.

Switching to a different bird, here are a bunch of cormorants sitting on the sea wall near Fisherman's Wharf.

Here's another cormorant sitting on a pier.

And, one more cormorant!

There were only a few brown pelicans around; but I was determined to get a picture of them. Here's the whole flock flying overhead.

Here's a lone pelican flying over the water.

And finally, these two pelicans flew low enough for me to get a decent picture of them.

When I took this photo, I thought it was another western gull; but then I noticed the red bill. As it turned out, it's a Heermann's Gull.

Here's a Pigeon Guillemot that was just off shore at Alcatraz Island.

I think this one is a Common Murre; but maybe someone can tell me for sure.

Last one for now, here's a western grebe.
