No more time here... kids, animals, self employment.... always something.. I would like some more blueberry bushes.. I have a lot of Iris, lillium, hibiscus... would like more heuchera.... easy to deal with..

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Animals....how did I forget to mention THEM! lol
4 dogs, 2 rabbits and one cat, all 5 kids are grown up ......thank goodness!!

I really think DH should of started the Ark and skipped the shed/greenhouse!!

We used to have chickens... hope to have them again... soon... but now we have 4 cats (I think 9 at one point as I foster cats/kittens), 3 dogs, two turtles and two kids (one in HS and one in college)... The plants are a much more predictable outcome! lol!!

I agree!!!

THREAD 31:

Looks like a sulphur, Rama , but not quite.....I think that one is the cabbage moth .... watch out for those larvae!

Awesome foxglove, there, too, Rama!

The red, white & blue garden was one of Jo Ann's hodge-podge / ad hoc garden themes!! Totally not planned, as all the roses USED to be various scented roses, now all red climbers.

THIS THREAD:

And, you can always get rid of a plant that misbehaves!! ^_^

Liking the goldfinch and your lilies are lookin' great, Jo Ann!

AND, all those blues, Bill! (and those astilbes)

This is my first year with Non-DL lilies, and they are looking good!

No lily beetles, yet, but probably only because it is their first year!

The stargazers above are really budding up!

This is a shot of my newest lily 'Tinos' recently planted and already starting to bulk up.

I saved one for you Karen, and will get that out to you soon!!!! ^_^

Here is kind of a narrow, cropped view from the "patio," out past the fire pit to the "outback" just beyond the pines (which is technically not my property).

Great shots, Bill, Jo Ann and all. I like that pink echi, Bill. The volunteer near Rozanne looks like a BES.

Zooming in on Mathilda Gütges, who is blushing more and more everyday.

I will add some more soil acidifier to the planter. I still need to pick up more MirAcid, of which I am currently out.

Opps, I forgot to mention your great coleus, Victor! Do we have a name for that one?

Common Feverfew .... one of my favorites.

Looking great Bill

Here is a hosta that, though still not planted, is flowering tried and true

I am liking Bill's "sort of" wide shot beyond the red astilbe. Looks lush.

Here is a wider view of that cropped, tight shot above, back through to the veggie garden.

Please, excuse the yellow extension cord, as my dead batteries have yet to be replaced.

As I walked to the fence, standing in the veggie garden, whom do I spy!

So far, he and all his siblings have not ventured into the yard! Whew!

You can spot him, centered here in the "outback," watching me watch him.

Had to block off the path to the veggie garden from the dogs so the spaghetti squash can roam.

Two new additions! I have decided to commit to feeding the squirrels, I mean the birds, again!

Here is the new hummer and ceramic bird feeders on the clothes pole, which I don't use, though I really ought!

(It is a bit contrasty, as the sun is particularly bright through the haze)

Blue Sea Holly backed by Butterfly Weed backed by LOVely neighbor's gardens across the street. (see the previous pic for another spartan view across the street!!)

Can you say "eYEWwwwwwww?" (How uninspired, eh??)

"Pretty Jades All In A Row"

OK, well .... two rows!

OK ... here's a last shot looking back at the veggie garden. (and my two huge piles of branches)

I will add some shots of the veggie patch to the Edibles thread a bit later.

Nice astilbe Willi,
I had to move mine it was bigger than I expected it to be.
Its confusing when growers give the height of the plant and dont include the fact they havnt measured with the blooms.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Willie, nice shots. 'Tino's' is one of my favorites, i've had it for over 7 years and wouldn't be with out it.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Yes - very nice, Will. Love that Blue Sea Holly! How does it behave? I am considering it for the front of my property, where the idiots with the plow do so much damage all the time. It's probably salt-resistant. Love the asilbes too.

Here's another lightning shot from last night.

PLant it(blue S, Holly)...don't move it and it will be fine. Never had a problem with mine until I tried to move it....now I have 5 or 6 in that flower bed!!!

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Thanks, all!! I can't wait for Tinos to bloom, Celeste!

Awesome lightning shot!!!!!!

The Blue Sea Holly comes up everywhere, I have to admit! Not hard to control, however. Never tried to move one, though I just gave one away and it appears to be surviving. They have a tap root.

I even have it growing between the cracks of my driveway, which is in desperate need of replacement!

looks like a black eyed susan vine, doesn't it?

I do remember trying it once and getting rid of it because of the spreading. By seeds, I assume? Maybe if I'm vigilant about deadheading (that would be a first.) Anyway, resistance to salt and a good taproot are the requirements for that area.

Thanks on the lightning shot.

Jen, have you been bugging again? lol NIce shot!

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

I don't deadhead ....

I leave everything in place until spring has begun, then I start cleaning up the winter kill, so I tend to get things reseeding fairly well for me.

I do not find the Blue Sea Holly hard to keep in line, at all.

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Yep! crawling in the dirt.
Anyone know what this is?
I originally thought they were campanulas.
