Last night when I went out to check the garden, I noticed a patch of limp leaves and vines in one section of the watermelon vines. It looked like some kind of animal had laid down in the middle of the vines. We don't have any free ranging animals, so I think that's out of the question. Tonight, I noticed that some of the vines are turning yellow and dieing. Some of the leaves have brown spots on them. Any ideas what's going on?
Pic #1~From the top you can see the area that's affected.
Watermelon Woes...What's Going On Here?
The top pic looks exactly like what happened to mine. My pumpkins too (which are in close proximity to them AND the canteloupe which is located across the garden). The ends of the vines kept growing and produced some fruit, but the interior deterioration continued. I went out and got an organic disease control (can't remember the name right now) and I think it seemed to help ... some. But I don't know if it was a disease or what. I lost a few fruit due to what looked like blossom end rot. And some of the fruit came out oddly shaped, small at the stem and larger at the end.
:-( ???
