Hi all,
I have something feasting on my hardy hibiscus and I want to know what it is so I can control it. When I looked at the plant, there was a small green inchworm-looking worm on the underside of one of the leaves (couldn't take a pic 'cause it was too small for my cell phone to focus on). There are also lots of flying insects with black bodies and red heads (took a cell phone pic of one but it's out of focus) all over it. I don't know which is doing the damage (probably the inchworm thingie).
Here's a pic of the damage.
Thank you!!!
PS - I'm in Stony Point, NY - zone 6 - 30 miles north of Manhattan
Hardy Hibiscus getting demolished
Yup, it is that inch worm thingy. They seem to exist all over the country and just love anything hibiscus. Bacillus Thurigensis (sp) Bt for short is specially formulated for controlling worms of all sorts(even mosquito larvae) and comes in three forms: Solid tablets that are placed in bird baths and ponds, powder form and liquid form. It is available at most garden centers and big box stores with garden centers.
Thank you so much! Very much appreciated! :)
