Garden Photos of '09... # 31

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Never had rules before, and I'm not sure what the big deal was. We were close enough to 300 in my book to start a new thread. It makes it hard for some people to load after 250 post anyways..........so thank you Andy!! ^_^

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

It SHOULDN'T have been a big deal. I was simply saying that we usually start a new one when we're over 300. I was not scolding him! Pretty silly. It's a very active thread and almost everyone has high-speed access now. If it starts 'drifitng down' too much, we'll be having to start a new thread every few hours! 300 is what sort of evolved. It was never declared.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Oooops! I shouldn't interject my wry sense of humor.

I ... like everyone else .... I think ..... were just kidding about any such rules .....

"Just an FYI" ;-)

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

andy at least you let folks know on both threads - i started a new one without realizing a new one had been started - a new one i had posted and commented on no less:) not a big deal

Long Branch, NJ(Zone 7a)

Ya know, I wasn't objecting either. I was just letting people know that there is a page 32. Again no biggie! I just didn't want people to keep posting in case they didn't know such page already exist.

Also if the page gets too long for you to scroll down, HIT THE 'END' KEY in your keyboard. It will bring you down right to the bottom of the page without scrolling down forever.

Sorry, but I've been in a sour mood lately. No work, a sick dog and no funds to do anything more than buy food. Being refereed to as "SOMEBODY" set me off.
Forget it, the problem is mine.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No problem, Andy. Sorry to hear that. What's wrong with Sarah?

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Your dog is sick, Andy? Sorry about that. I'm a dog lover, so I hate to hear when people's dogs are sick.

Karen

Sarah had a broken leg when I adopted her. It was either me or the needle.
I missed her Drops for ticks & fleas last fall, she got Lime disease which aggravates arthritis. She has always favored the broken left rear leg but she couldn't walk in March. X-Rays showed her knee as nearly fused, it got so bad she couldn't even pee without falling over. She had a bad reaction to the first meds so we had to start all over again. The Lime is cured but the leg remains painful, pain and inflammatory meds work well but they are expensive.
She's 9 and a half years old and otherwise healthy.

Poor Sarah. Have you tried posting on Pets to ask about possible less expensive solutions for the pain? Maybe that liquid that goes in the water and helps with arthritis. I never tried it but saw it on tv.

Buffalo, NY(Zone 6a)

Sarah's awesome! Looks like a swell companion. I know some dogs who do well with their arthritis on glucosamine.

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

I'm sorry to hear Sarah is ailing Andy. I understand your fustration and most of us are animals lovers here. My Tia is 12 and this cold damp weather this summer is playing havoc on her. She looks forward to the sunny days, so do I!!!

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Thanks Willie, I was trying to think of glucosamine, it is what I was told to give Tia.

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

She is on Glucosamine. It did wonders for my last dog, Lucy. She had a laxated patella (Sp?). She was a rare breed Podengo. No more pure breeds for me, mutts are the best.
I'd like to bring Sarah to Karen's RU if she was the only dog, but she doesn't get along well with other dogs if they are timid. It's an Alpha thing.

Oh, poor Sarah! My dog had LD, too. Now she is having lots of problems with displasia in her shoulders. She is half Basset and half Dalmatian. A real sweetie, and the best dog I've ever had. She is 8 1/2 now. She is an alpha, too, and does not get on well, either, with other dogs, especially if they come on too strong with her, like getting too rambunctious, etc. She rules the roost here over Dad's dog, and he lets her have her way. They have gotten into very few tiffs, as he's a very mild mannered dog, a Lab mix.

Karen

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

That's an interesting mix, Karen. Sarah will stay home for a few hours.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Like you, Andy, I prefer the mixed breeds over the pedigrees.

Karen and Celeste,
Thank for the suggested ID for the DL. I didn't order a DL with that name. Maybe I was sent the wrong one? This one was planted last fall, this is my first bloom. It seems like I have quite a few plants that are wrong. A little frustrating when you spend the time choosing named cultivars and then labeling all these plants!
Luckily, the DL is a pretty one.
Dyane

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Yes, it is a pretty one, Dyane. That is frustrating when you get plants that are labeled wrong. That has happened to me as well.

aaaawwwww poor baby Sarah... hope she feels better

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Karen - do you recognize this one? I've had it for about 15 years, and the tag is history.

Landini - very intense dark red. It's substantive!

very pretty Katye

South China, ME(Zone 5a)

Dyane, did you order one called or 'Emperor Butterfly' or 'William Austin Norris' ? I looked at your picture again and it looks very much like a 'Munson' piece of work. In plant files if you search plants, then put "Munson" under Hybridizer it will come up a list of his daylilies. You'll notice alot of his has this distinctive watermark center.

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Wow - that first one is gorgeous, Kate!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Katye - I love that pink daylily! Very pretty shade of pink!

Port Washington, NY(Zone 7a)

I'm going to see if Denise from Snowpeak can ID the DL. I ordered it from her. I just found my list, I ordered Moonlit Masquerade, Night Embers, Awesome Blossom and she sent a freebie, Merlot Rouge. Definitely doesn't look like any of those others so it must have been a mix up. I really appreciate all of your help.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Sorry, Katye, I don't recognize that one, but it sure is a pretty one.

Karen

Framingham, MA(Zone 6a)
