Me too, Maria. It was a thrill to see Saturn through the large telescope at the US Naval Observatory in DC a few years back.

Victor, I can imagine.
Many years ago we did not have all the light pollution we have now, I used to see the milky way, no more but when we are at the beach that is not too far away, we can see it all as it used to be here.

I miss also the silence we once had, grass was not cut with machines, cars were few, as one past I would know who it was.

Yes, the skies are awful now. I love when we can get away to dark areas. It's like being at a planetarium.

Every year I order the Astronomical calender, it is actually a more of a very glossy magazine containing more than just the monthly days but anything that is going to appear in the skies for the year. Unfortunately, I forgot to renew it, still upset about this.

I used to be really into Astronomy. I had subscriptions to a few magazines, including Astronomy and Sky & Telescope. There are many websites that show you the sky in your area. Here is one:

Nice day at the farm---the blueberries are almost ready---thunderstorm just passed, but more on the way.

We had a huge thunderstorm this morning. We have a festival this weekend with a parade today. The parade had to be postponed for an hour for the storm to pass. It is currently 77 and breezy.

Rained from 11 pm off and on until the wee hours of the morning. Burning off now and should have a high of 80 today. ^_^

Weather weirdness - yesterday it was 90°; today the Great Grey Cloud Blanket rolled in: it is 62° and raining. This always happens when I want to mow the lawn and weedeat on the weekend.
The Bees are confused. The plants are confused - can't have vegetable confusion. Flower confusion is ok, but does not induce happiness. However, I'm not eating the flowers.

Perfect day again. Mom Nature is redeeming herself! I am a bit worried though. Two great weekends in a row. Saturday is my annual stickball game in Queens. San we get three in a row??

Perfect day here in NH too! In fact, two in a row! We worked hard moving a dump truck (big!) load of soil around the yard to fill swales from the construction vehicles last summer, and for a new garden in front of our "garage shed". I was shocked that with all that shoveling, my bad back wasn't a problem at all. But wait, all it took was bending down to pull a week today.....fine, so far, UNTIL! I tried to stand up again. OMG....the spasms! I hope I addressed it fast enough to be able to walk tomorrow. tsk tsk! Will I ever learn???

Lots of yard work to go here....so glad the weather is so gorgeous!!

Today was a top ten day, & I haven't written that once this summer! Spent several hours weeding, & removing briars, bittersweet, etc. from the yard. Oh, Louise---so sorry about your back! Have been there, & thought I would pass out.

57 and very sunny, high of 70 today. This is more like June weather but im not complaing......cause the sky isn't crying for a change!!
