One of the biggest challenges to my gardening hobby is Yellow Jackets. I have had control experts out to dig up the nests, but that gets expensive, and the Yellow jackets just build new ones. I have heard there is a type of yellow jacket poison I can put out whereby the worker bees take it back to the hive and kill the queen . . thereby killing off the entire nest. Does anyone out there know anything about this kind of Yellow Jacket poison? And where I can get it? Thanks.
Yellow Jackets
Ask at Lowes or HD. I just pour gas in the holes and that kills them.
I saw a yellow jacket trap at Walmart. I don't know anything about it or if it would attract even more yellow jackets, but maybe you could check it out.
Those things are mean! I walked by a nest one day that I didn't know was there. I was about two feet from it and the stupid thing came out and stung me. My OH was in the driveway working on the brakes and sprayed them with brake cleaner. It was the closest thing he had but it worked and he didn't get stung.
Here's a site with lots of info--maybe some of it will be helpful.

An inexpensive and easy method that is especially enjoyed by my boy pumpkin.... place a very large cleansed and clear plastic container (such as the large pretzels or animal cookie jars) upside down over the nesting holes. The clear container will confuse the yellow jackets as they exit the nest into the empty container. They will see the clouds and sky and just keep flying around until they die. Leave the container in place for several days until all the yellow jackets are dead in a big heap. No sting, no poison, no contamination of the ground and no risk to the gardener using lit rags, etc....
PS~ Oh yes, be sure to place the container over the nest before sunrise..before they exit the nest to do their business....
