I am planning a new flower bed. I am in zone 9 and the bed will get afternoon sun. Any comments for suggestions would be appreciated. I am interested in low maintenance and year round interest.
The plants I am considering are plumbago, red shrimp plant, mexican petunia, pink salvia, verigated spider plant, sun coleus, sweet william, red/yellow marigold, creeping juniper, and purple heart.
Thanks
planning flower bed
Those all sound great. I just want you to know that plumbago is very invasive here. I have been trying to get rid of it for years. Post pics if you can We would love to see your new bed.
Look into the coreopsis plants. They have long-blooming flowers and can withstand humidity as well. I don't know if humidity is a problem for you (like me)...but it's also something to take into consideration when planning. Enjoy!!!
The picture is my 'Moonbeam' coreopsis... :)

Thanks for the tips.
True about the plumbago. I really don't want anything that could take over the bed and overpower the other plants. Also, I wasn't to sure about the color of the plumbago flowers with my other sections.
Love the 'Moonbeam' coreopsis. I love the color and the shape of the flowers.
Thanks again. I will post some pictures when I get things going.
I have coreopsis zagreb...I love the soft ferny foliage of it.....I'm not as familair with your other selections but the coreopsis has been a trooper here in New England..ice, salt, humidity, a month of rain, it takes it all.
