Hey everyone! been gardening like crazy.... well, so much to do...

anyway, Maria - that picture is what was left from the bean plants... so sad... last year I had enough for my family to eat twice - oh it was delicious... this year??? don't know...

more complain: today I found a horrible bug eating some of my irises... what a horrible creature - hard to kill since its like rubber.... yakes... had to dig up 2 huge clamps and see the damage.... horrible... lost 2/3 of one clump... and almost half of the other.... I feel like screaminnnnng!

It's probably iris borer. Garden tools work well to slice them in half. If you can, dig clumps around that one to get rid of Them.

Thomaston, CT

The rain has brought all kinds of bugs this summer.

Boy, has it! Sorry to hear about everyone's maladies! I think I'm going out to inspect my irises. One clump hasn't been looking so good lately.

Found some rotted iris myself today----more red lily beetles----and a gigantic toad---he needs to eat more beetles!

Southeast, MA(Zone 6b)

Yes the iris really took a hit this year here also. I have lost one clump already and the rest aren't looking too happy. Also finding the red lily here too and a few japanese beetles too. Waited all summer for the white echies to bloom and they look like swiss cheese already. :(

Thomaston, CT

Disappointing! I helped a friend divide some iris today---the clumps were nice & healthy, & I took a few home.
