Round zuchinni ? brown inside.

Pilot Point, TX(Zone 7b)

I harvested a couple of my 'round zuchinni' which were about baseball size. When I cut them open they had browned on the inside...sort of like they were rotting inside. The outside was perfectly fine.

Anybody experience this too ?

Never had that problem, what cultivar are you growing.

There are some zuchinni that are suppose to be round, but not brown inside.

The only thing I know about this type of zuchinni that I planted is -- "Mexican Round Zuchinni".

No reference to that cultivar in any data base I access. I ask because not everything called a zucchini is actually a zucchini. Some are actually gourds. Lack of pollination could be the cause as the non fertilized zukes will die. There are dozens of round zukes, you might want to try a named type next year. Grow 4 different ones myself. Great for baking.

Thanks Farmerdill,

I wondered if it's from too much water....and then extreme heat -- 105*. We've had some weird weather this summer. Some of my other zuchinni had black mold growing on the end by the blossom. Of course they rotted.
