Hedge plant with thornes suggestions for Can 5b, Barberry??

Hi,
Anyone have suggestions or comments on hedge plants with thornes suitable for zone 5b. I'm thinking of Barberry but not sure they're large enough?

I have seen barberry at 5 feet tall - and even wider than tall - how big do you want?

Hi Dan what about pyracantha? They get pretty big & have thorns, also good fall color.
