Every year my zucchini gets destroyed mid-season by something. I'm assuming it's squash vine borer. The stems are eaten at the soil line and are mushy/rotted looking. Luckily, it doesn't usually happen until after it's produced some good size zucchinis, but I would like for it to survive the season. Any way to prevent this? What should I do after I notice the first signs of this?
Squash Vine Borer
I'm anxious to find out what others suggest here because I have the same problem. I sprinkle with Sevin but usually the dang things get at least one or more of my plants every year.
