Tills does your new friend have a name?
Garden Pics: See the loves of our labors...#9
No not yet, not sure what to call him. He was a little broken when i got him. His shovel was broke, but you can't see it in the dirt. just can't find the right name for him.
Tills,
Your little Grandniece is adorable! And look at the size of those poppies! Wow! Very cute set of pictures!
Sherry
Something ate them, I have two left. And waiting for them to bloom. then I will dig them up and pot them. I only have the pics to remember them now. But I cant show you cause I just downloaded all my pics cause puter went on the friz. just got it fixed but have not had the time to reload them. But I do have some on my blog on DG, if they are still there.
I am off to bed, long day in AM
This was my most loved, gone now.

ahhh.,... that's really sad Tilly. Hopefully the culprit realizes the wrongs of it's ways and got severe indigestion from eating your plants!! My guess would be moles or gophers, if you have them. They eat anything of mine that is a bulb, or similar type rooted, plant. All of my lilies are either in pots, or very well protected from the little bas^@&)$!!!
Ooops on the nepeta Walker's Low Tilly. I thought that was what I was giving you. I'm not sure what that 5 foot tall monster is. The schizostylis must have had great care from you to be blooming. All of mine took a hit from the Winter and are only into sending up shoots. I hope they bloom in the Fall. Yours might re-bloom then. If it does, it could last all the way to November. Mine have been seen in bloom with a dusting of snow, but that is the end of it at that point.
Your Lissey is just precious!! What a sweetie.
Out of the loop for a couple of days and I am unbelievably behind..92 posts in the three days I have been too busy to read!!!
Love all the pics and can't comment on everything I would like to but ....
RC....I have to say that I think that post 6740314 (the one with the water droplets) is close to (if not THE) the best pic I have seen posted on DG. There are some wonderfully artsy things and beautiful things posted here, but that was WOW. It was the reflection in the droplets...could almost feel like you could see the person taking the photo if you looked close enough! I also like your new little garden helper. I almost cried when I found out that my Phoenix is a flower muncher too...... they are colorful and waving in the wind...TOYS!
Ginger...love the pics, and I totally agree with the "dreamy" look!
Bea, you look like you have been as busy as I have...miss your photos!
Tills, It is great to see you back, your stuff is looking wonderful! The pics of Lissey are precious!
Trisha..your glad is gorgeous! If it will help you narrow it down, I believe it is a variety of nannus glad.
Pony...hope you had a good trip! Your pics are great....nothing better than a point and shoot for those of us who don't have time to read directions! Love the double petunias myself!
Sherry, Great that you are still hanging out here! Beautiful flowers...especially the daylilies (from a DL junkie!)
I haven't even had time to take many pics over the last several days...I SO should be caught up in the garden by now, and I am still SOOOOO far behind! Maybe this weekend I will feel like I am fighting a winning battle!
A few from the last several days....
The Elderberry (thanks for the ID Tills!) is at it's peak now. With the heavy rains we had last week, it is hanging heavy over some of my gardens, but I can't bear to cut it back when it is sooooo pretty and the birds like it so well.....
Thanks Mauryhill. That Rochelle of yours is lovely! I have no idea what mine is, but they could very well be the same. I'll put a tag on it that says Rochelle!
Bea... great pics, but I really like the two 'love birds!' Love frogs just sounds wrong. lol
RJ... I love that accidental color combination! it's great. I love those accidents! Which was sort of like that picture. lol. Thanks. you're too kind!! I have no idea how I got it to come out that clear. I've tried many times, and that's the first time that it's worked. Now, if only I knew what I did! Yep, it sounds as if you know just what I'm going through with the flower muncher. What a pain it is huh? If you figure out a way to break your Phoenix of the habit, will you let me know?? This little garden muncher is definitely not getting the idea.
RC....Isn't it hard when they are soooo cute and soooooo destructive at the same time? I should have known that I was in trouble when I heard her growling like she does when we play tug....looked over and she had the lowest bow of my weeping blue cedar that has been limping along for several years clenched in her teeth in an agressive battle of "tug of war". I am not quite sure how to even start fixing it....wish I could use bitter apple or something similar but the yard is way too large! Gonna just keep working with "no" and lots of outdoor toys to distract her!
Talk about lots of posts, gee I can't keep up. Long day today 11 hour shift + the comute. Don't know where to start ????
As far as my Lilies go, I will never plant them in the ground again. I think its Voles that the cats haven't found or my DH's bad watering habits. LOL
Yes Lizzie is the little Queen of the poppies.
Holly, We need to ID that thing, or its a Walkers Low runamuck, and likes old horse poop. LOL
The Kafer, I planted them in pots and kept it in the GH all winter. It started blooming in there. Then I put them in the yard about a 2 weeks ago.
This is growing so well, Franceses Garden all gifts for Dgers.
its great to be back, love my puter being back to its old self. Sorry I just could not get the laptop down, silly thing had a mind of its own "Not kidding" Hate typing twice ^_^
I love games like this. I see 6 LOL
omgweebabyfroggies! Eeeee! I want frogs sooooo bad. Lordy, I wish we could get a pond built!
I wish I could too, but they'd just be critter bait! LOL
Beautiful pictures everyone!! Julie, I love the Jap. Iris, do they need to be moist?
Tilly, your garden is looking lovely! Glad you got your puter back and can hang out with us again!
Jana, Love the osteospermum! Mom had a very similar one jump in her cart earlier this spring. They are just adorable!
Pony, you would have been really jealous if you would have seen all of the taddies and baby salamanders that were in Mom's little pond that morning! It is a tiny little plastic pond shell with landscaping around it, so it stays warmer than the big water features. There were taddies of all sizes and colors, as well as at least 6 salamander babies that were a little over an inch long. We were watching them on a short break, and easily could have stayed there for hours!f
Sally, All of my Jap iris are in fairly wet areas...most of my yard is a fairly wet area :). I am not sure how they would do in a drier area...have never tried. I bought a bunch of them several years ago, and they are finally blooming in clumps rather than singles and I am in love with them! This one came out today.
Wow. Now I'm jealous of baby frogs and Volcano Queens. You're killin' me, Julie. :p
Intense colors on both of those!! I love the flower on the Jap. Iris, my sis has them by her pond. I'm thinking I'm too dry for them.
Pony, You could always put in a teeny tiny little plastic pond...I am pretty sure I could hook you up with some taddies next spring! Haven't collected tadpoles since I was very young, but bet it's like riding a bike....you never forget how! Daylilies are my current garden addiction, and I have several that are just stunning. I do think that VC rates right up there at the top though...think that it has something to do with the color combo....the bright colors that pop out against our backdrop like Kathy was talking about in the last? thread.
This is one that I bred myself...it had it's first bloom of the season today so it is not as wonderful as it will be in the next couple of weeks, but very special to me. It is the one I dedicated to my Dad for his memorial garden that we put together last year...Mountain Shadow To Sir With Love.........
That's a beautiful daylily... what a special thing!
The only thing keeping me from getting going on a pond is a lack of outdoor power. We need to have somebody run power to the outside of the house, but can't afford it right now. I don't want a pond without some kind of fall or fountain- we already have waaaaay too many mosquitos around here.
Frogs and taddies eat the heck out of mosquito larve..... ( I am practicing my enabling skills....is it working?). :) :)
Enabler! :D
I hadn't thought of that. Ohhhhh boy this could be trouble. But where could I find frogs to populate a pond this summer if I decide to go insane and do this thing? (Did I mention hubby will be gone for 5 weeks starting this Friday? Nobody to tell me "no".... muahahaha!)
Close to Lakewood....work in Federal Way....have coffee can for taddies and several still in my little pond that I could catch this weekend.....
