How to dig Pampas Grass to rid it from an area
Pampas Grass
I have Pampas Grass which has invaded a flower area near my house.
I wish to get rid of all of it. It is spreading and crowding out the plants I do wish to have there.
I'm also having a problem with bind weed in another area, where it grew & choked a lot of my Iris. I have sprayed with round-up, but some always comes back and spreads again.
I suppose by now you will have got rid of the offending Pampas Grass, or not.
I had enormous editions of this plant in both of my gardens, North-East England and South-West France. Both of them took all day to remove all traces, except the one in France did try to grow again but further treatment finally got rid of it.
The treatment is hard work but simple, dig it out, and remove all traces of the roots. This will create an enormous hole and after filling this in you will definitely be pleased, tired and deserving of a nice cup of tea.
Best wishes, DGr.

I am actually trying to grow mine... I have to divide it because I need it to spread. Funny to have opposite problems... If we lived closer, I'd come help you dig! You must be warmer than I am (no idea what your zone is...) because I have to be careful mine doesn't get killed by mother nature. Best of luck to you digging it out!
:)
