Rabenda x Pres Bush finally opened. Thanks Becky.
Hard to get a good pic of this one
Morning Glories 2009 #04
Jackie - Your bloom is lovely! The color sometimes shimmers and unfortunately, when using a flash it tends to bounce the light right back at ya! It IS a difficult bloom to photograph, but your bloom photo turned out beautiful! :-)
Very nice Jackie!
It is quite a nice plant, Jackie!
I have been growing Ipomoea obscura strains over the past few years. This year I have 5 growing, and somehow forgot to plant out Keniaki. I used last year's photo of the leaf for Keniaki and put together a collage to compare and contrast the leaf shape and other qualities of leaves of the 6 strains. I liked how this turned out...will have to use it more often.
Joseph
Very nice bloom Jackie!
Neat collage Joseph.
Very nice colour; is it grey or light blue?
The ipomoea obscura leaves look variable amongst the different strains, how do the blooms compare? Would be cool to created a cross between a few
Thanks Joseph, Helena and RSman. Your collage is very
interesting Joseph. Surprised at the variances in the lvs of obscura.
My blooms are a very light purple shade at least to my old eyes.
Joseph - Interesting leaf collage! You've had far better luck (or is it skill) growing Ipomoea obscura than I have. I've yet to get any seeds to germinate. :-/
lovely pale color on that bloom Jackie...
the collage is excellent Joseph...
Thanks Colin.
nice bloom Jackie, I can't wait to see mine! I have two obscuras vining atm, will post pics when they bloom..
Jackie, what other MGs do u have growing?
Joseph, Love the soft blue with it's large expanse of white. No mai is a
beauty too.
Debra,thanks. I've got lots planted..
Blue blizzard, Fuji no Beni, Morning Storm,Lady Laura, Lavender Beauty,
Yag blizzard,Becky sds.My sds did not germinate from last yrs crop.
Apricot Candy, Lilac Luster from Emma and purple blizzard. Plus still
planting Emma's sds
Jo Hanten shibori,Dai, Asagiri,Fuji shibori, Blue Silk, 10-10 all from Joseph.
Fuji no Monet and marginata from A. Plus lots more.
wow... u r the bomb!
Joseph - I really like this one! http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=6744322
Your unknown light blue is really pretty, too! Silk Blue looks a little like my Sazanami blooms. All of them are just wonderful!
But ... YOU REALLY GOT MY ATTENTION with the photo of the variegated NOID I. nil leaf. That is wild looking! WOW! I can't wait to see more of this plant! Way to go, Joseph!!!
Ooooh, Jackie! I can't wait to see your blooms!!! All potential beauties! Bring it on!!! :-) :-)
LOL, well I don't know about that but I wanted to plant 100's so I could have
tons of blooms to enjoy. Debra, I couldn't get albivenia or stictocardia you sent me to germinate. I will try those again later. Hattie Bell is up and
a Count Drac on the fence plus one in a pot. The Drac I planted outside came right up, just wanted to see how that slow grower would do planted in the ground.
From the looks of it, pandurata will bloom before any of the ones in pots.
Even though pandurata has 5 growing stems, it has not taken over the fence like one might expect so it is still nicely behaved. Who would have thought it?
Will take a pic to send.
Becky, some of your sds I planted are still in the black 6 pks.Suppose to be
105 here today so may have to wait until tomorrow to pot some of them up.
Back down to 98 tomorrow. lol
105???? OMG! I don't know how these plants survive these temps!
I doubt if it will actually get to 105. A different station was saying 102. But
when it's that hot, 2 or 3 degrees doesn't matter much. I leave them on the porch
in the shade for the most part. A wonder that I get any blooms. lol
Joseph, can't wait to see your blooms of this plant http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/fp.php?pid=6744330. The variegation and the leaf form looks very interesting.
Just started a couple of my mutant mgs. Might be a bit late but Canada's weather has been off lately (we are frequently getting storms during our early summer this year).
The pic below is one of the cotyledons of Q0607 which reminds me of fujikiresaki/bamboo leafed mg.
Eliz
It sure is pretty!
great blooms there Joseph... esp. like the blue silk looky likey :-) do you think your cordate leaf has the crystal type variegation? with all that white in it!
Eliz... dont you just love the mutant cotyledons... they're like peices of art... what mutant is that one?
this flower was a surprise this morning... it came from ebays tasteeclectics shinkai seeds... i sprouted two plants, one has gold leaves, very dark tiny reverse tube split flowers with petaloid anthers... and the other one was this beauty... large and dark.
WOW Dany... thats lovely... how wide is the flower? mine is about 9cm / 3.5"
I too have bought from tastee, I have had nice things happen from his offerings, and those are some beautiful blooms there !
Dany, those "points" are really really nice!
Colin I love that ciss cross...
Thanks Deb!
Colin, the cotyledon from the picture above is the same as this:

your dark flowers look very nice Colin and Dany! Haven's seen one of those here. btw, Colin, your Crisscross is from the same seller?
Dany I have also started hybridizing purpureas. Up here, the purpureas are blooming first compared to the nils. These are my crosses that I have done:
Pink Split personality x Milky Way
Pink Split personality x Teresa
Pink Split personality x Jamie Lynn
Pink Split personality x Shibori flaked
I am hoping to get different coloured split corollas next year and hopefully they bear fruits and will seed for me.
