I got a Veteran's honor hybrid rose plant. Has anyone tried leaving it in the same container it came in for the season? I want to transplant it in Fall into another container when it gets a bit cool. We are having a heat wave and I am afraid it will die now.

Veteran's Honor Rose hybrid
It depends on how root bound it is. Take it out of the pot and see if the roots are going around and around the root ball. How big is the pot?
It's a 1 gallon pot.
Did you check the roots yet?
I am too scared to remove the plant from the pot to check as I don't know what to do with it once I remove it from there.
Bump the sides of the pot. Put your hand, palm down on the dirt and turn the pot upside down. Gently lift the pot up and off look at the roots and see if they are going around the root ball. Can you see much dirt? If you don't see much dirt and the roots are going around then you need to re-pot the plant. If you don't the plant may die before fall gets here. If you re-pot it then keep it out of direct sunlight for a few days and keep it watered. Just don't let the soil get soggy.
Thanks for giving me the confidence. It was actually a 2 1/4 gallon pot and it was not root bound. But since I anyway removed it, I put it in a 5 gallon pot with Miracle Gro Potting Mix.
I am following your instructions on watering and keeping it in the shade
