I second that!
However i figure that I, and probably all of us, have spent far to much: money, effort, and energy to get our gardens to the state that they were, to have not done everything possible to keep them at that state! Even if that means an unsightly waterbill! lol. I'm just so glad that we weren't on watering restrictions when this happened. That would've been aweful! In fact, I think that I might have risked getting the fine or ticket if that were the case.
Weird Weather of '09 #12
I am another who is thankfully NOT going to be looking at a huge water bill, but I have had very real concern about the strain I have put on my well over the last two weeks. We had a hard enough time getting enough flow to fulfill the county's requirements when it was drilled. I just keep telling myself that when we flooded last winter, all of that water had to go somewhere, so it will be OK. (Yes, I know better, but please don't any of you knowledgable people burst my bubble of ignorance....it is keeping my yard alive!)
RC, you are right..we have way too much time and love invested in our gardens to let them go without a fight!
I watered really well yesterday morning and decided not to water in the evening since it was beginning to cool down at 9 pm and it was around 94 and not the 107 we've been having. Today as I was pulling out of my driveway I could see that was a bad decision. Shrubs near the trees were drooping so I guess the tree roots drank all the water. I think I'll leave the hose on low under the trees one at a time. Guess I need a soaker hose.
It is sooooo nice to open the door and be greeted by nice breezes instead of oven-hot temps! I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful days! And the cool nights that are perfect for sleeping.
Amen to the cool weather!
OK, I have pretty much been MIA in the forums lately and am not going to even think about trying to catch up right now....BUT
I am butting in everywhere right now to post the link to our final roundup plans so that there isn't a chance of anyone that wants to join us missing it!
Hope to see as many people as possible there! Should be a great time!

Cool nights, finally. Had to put a long sleeved shirt on tonight. LOL It never got passed 62 all day.
Yup, DH almost froze me out of bed last night because I still have the windows open and the fan running, and he had kicked the blanket off of the bed... What pleasure to want a blanket rather than wanting to figure out how to sleep in a cold shower! Hot days are OK, but Hot nights.....ICK!
I sleep so much better with a blanket, not a heavy one, just so I can curl up in it.
Sally, I'm with you. Even just a flannel sheet gives that perfect "snuggly" sensation.
I'm right there with you - cooler nights are preferable.
Cool mornings and hot hot coffee - yes.
I like when it's 65° in the morning & doesn't go above 90°. Oh, it needs to be a week-end day, too. Why waste great weather on a weekday?
It's raining. OMG. I never thought I'd be happy to see rain. LOL!
Two of my frogs popped out from the plants where they were hiding when it first started to sprinkle- they looked a little confused. Hahaha!
We got a few sprinkles on the car window earlier...we were a little confused too!!!!
A few morning sprinkles but enough that I didn't have to water the tomatoes. Cloudy all day and it sure feels nice and cozy for a change.
We've had light rain off and on all afternoon. It's nice, but I hope the sun comes back soon. I have lilies that haven't bloomed yet, and my maters are all still very very green.
Just sprinkles here. Stayed on the cool side but warmer than yesterday.
We had an actual downpour just after I posted saying I hoped the sun comes back soon. I guess it showed me, huh? ;)
Don't mess with Mother Nature!! ROFLOL
Wish we would get a downpour here :( Then it could clear up and let us get back to summer.
Gosh, I hope it clears right up in Olympia!
(you should get some rain now... hehehe.)
That's the way it usually works isn't it?
But then it has been one of those days "all week"....
Got my car back on Wednesday...it quit again on Thursday so it is back in the shop again...
Been one of those " got the Don't's" days (there is a spelling challenge for you.........)
Then about half an hour ago they took one of our neighbors out in an ambulance...don't know them very well, they just moved here in the past few months....We are getting to be on a first name basis with most of Station 5 in this neighborhood....
Think I should call it a day..........
Yikes. Sounds like a cup of tea and a cozy bed are in order. I hope your weekend is better than the week was!
We'll see.... they are having the Estate Sale tomorrow for the neighbor we lost on the July 4th.....aside from that I am doing is thinking about dragging out either my oil paints or my watercolors tomorrow....haven't painted in quite some time and the brushes have been calling recently...
If we are getting any real rain it will probably wait until we are out on our Sunday Bicycle Ride....the last hard rain we had was during one of our Sunday rides....not my idea of a good time andymore that 104* sunshine is...... DH says that I am never happy...too hot, too cold, too wet, too dry.....LOL.
Well, you're not a true PNWer if you don't gripe constantly about the weather. :)
This baseball game is driving me nuts (short trip).....we've let them get a run ahead in the eleventh inning!! Grrrr!
Can't believe they pulled it off!!!!!! We W O N!!!! Now I can go to bed....my mom is going to be sorry she gave up on the game went to bed. Good night All....
G'night Trisha. :)
Pleasant day today, not too warm and the wind was light. Don't know what happened to the rain that wa forecasted. Got a drizzle or two yesterday, that's all.
We had drizzling rain this morn. Nice!
Had a little here too...wish we would get more.
Last Sunday night we took off to Spokane from Bend in the wildest storm we had ever seen here. HUGE bolts of lightning, thunder enough to bounce my car and water coming down so fast and hard by the time we got to Redmond (25 miles) there were no sidewalks left. Water pouring into parking lots.
I got tossed around pretty good but we were out of it after Madras..It was NUTS!
Ginger
Wow, sounds like a wild ride. Glad you made it safely.
The return trip was stranger...

LOL
Dear Weather,
It's mid-August, and you've been raining for a week. My petunias are flattened, my sunflowers are falling over, my tomatos are still green, and I'm getting VERY cranky. I tolerated your little prank with the heat wave, but now you're really ticking me off.
Please return to our regularly scheduled summer weather immediately, or I will be forced to call in a Shaman.
KTHXBYE
-Pony
Ekkkkk....
high crankiness factor brewing here, too...
It rained a lot on Tuesday night and sprinkles Wed and this am but nice weather forecast for the next week or so. Possible repeat of the heat wave (90s) starting Monday. I will try to send some nice warm sun north!
You give it to them Pony. I'm right behind you as backup.
My only day off this week and its a down pour, I will never be ready for round up at this rate. But then again we did need some rain but not all at once. LOL
