I figured I get that over with since I seem to be getting on sporadically.

Sage needed a bug for her report, she was doing grasshoppers. She asked me to make one out of polymer clay. I wasn't sure I could pull it off, but the finished product was really cool. I'm so proud of this. Here's the picture I based it off of http://davesgarden.com/guides/bf/showimage/1158/

Speaking of polymer clay. Here's what Sage made for Father's Day.

Very cute clay creatures! Kathy is right, what wonderful treasures to store future memories in!

Laura you have certainly been busy! Such a cute grasshopper!

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I just didn't download my camera for awhile. I have been busy but it been working in other peoples yards and keeping an eye on my grandmother, she had double knee replacement so I stayed with her for 5 days.

In addition to that Laura has been helping me with my pond (puddle) and new bed...

Still have plantings to get put in around the pond and the bed....

The suff at the end of the new bed??? The sage and Iris are getting placed in new beds, the honey suckle is probably going to stay on the post for now.... the marjoram is low (doesn't show in this photo) and will stay. I am adding mosses and low growing herbs and a few flowers.....is going to be work in progress for awhile yet.

That was neat to hear Flickers mean a healthy forest, we have them too.

Nice work on the hopper!! And Sage is doing so well. It's so neat you have something to share.

Pond is looking good Trisha, wish I could do that but just too many critters that would tear it up. As it is they trash my fountain regular.

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Yeah, we will see how this goes...the racoons have left things alone here for quite awhile...still have fish in my washtub feature on the back patio so far....the new pond is deeper than the old one so we are hoping for the best...

Eugene, OR

That sounds good, if they've left things alone for awhile. I wish you luck. I know they come through here every night, they trip the motion light and have a bath in the fountain. I just redo the water in the morning. Had to change how I feed the cat that lives in the garage years ago, they used to run off with her food dish! Found an opening that they could use to get under the house, got that closed off. But there's a lady down the street that feeds them and we're in their path from the woods to her house. I hate when she leaves town, that's when they really get into stuff.

I don't like raccoons - they are such pests! If you think they are cute just look at their paws - they have ugly paws! I wonder why they have mask markings on their faces - that must serve some purpose.

After being blistering hot for four days, it cooled off today, should even more tomorrow. Had a beautiful sky tonight.

Isn't it so nice to have cool weather after all that heat. I slept like a baby last night and actually had to use a blanket!
Beautiful photos Trisha.

(Julie)South Prairie, WA(Zone 7a)

Sally and Trisha, glorious pics from you both! Amazing how you can live in the PNW for years, and see all of the scenery in the area that you possibly can, and are still in awe every time you see it through someone else's eyes!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Enjoying the cool and hoping we will get a bit more rain out of the clouds I can see coming in right now.....would like a good Soaking rain then back to summer!

I feel cheated - needs to be 80-85° for excellent vegetable production - particularly tomatoes.
I enjoyed the heat immensely & I don't have an option as a staff of one - I have to be out there everyday & when it exceeds my comfort level, I head for the shade. I watered from Friday through last night & I'm still not done. So the cooler weather is good from that aspect. Some of my plants don't adjust well when the nighttime lows take a dive. Neither do I!

(Trisha) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

yes, if it has to be cool and cloudy I want it to be useful, rain and get it over with.....I was enjoying the heat and hoping we might actually get a tomato crop this year! I have een started to get a tan this year !! Very unusual for Me.

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

I cannot fathom another summer without a bounty of tomatoes.
that would make 3 years straight...
Cool is fine, but since I grow food crops I am dependant on the summer heat; the possibility of an extended hot spell is rare. Since we might only have summer for 2 months - the rest of the year being cool to cold, I think it's only fair to have 1/6 of the year be hot.
Rain at night - fabulous!

Eugene, OR

Glad you had a good trip Trisha! I love the coast. I can handle 80-85, but when it gets to 90+ even the tomatoes don't like it. That's where we were for four days and my plants are really not happy, now it'll be too cool, you can't win.
Except since we are working on a new deck, please forgive me for enjoying the cooler temps for a little while.

Moscow, ID(Zone 5a)

Sally - cool weather is ideal for projects that need to be accomplished, particularly when it's DRY.
I suppose it might be because I am farther north, or maybe it's the siting of my property, but the tomatoes do exceedingly well here when it hovers around 85 - 90°. As long as it's not humid, I'm ok. I have lived in Brazil & Hawaii - the humidity is constant. In that climate - I prefer cool!

Eugene, OR

Mostly finished up the deck today, still need to clean up. But it started to rain and I mean RAIN!! Great thunder and lightning storm, sat out on the covered deck for a while and watched but it got to nasty. Cats wanted me inside anyway. My new deck is now being thoroughly christened!!

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

I was so happy to hear the rain start this morning. The thunder woke me up and I went back to sleep smiling.

(Judi)Portland, OR

It's raining a bit here but no thunder or lightning. Yet.

Eugene, OR

Ours has stopped for now, but it lasted a good 2 hrs. A couple of really hard downpours, won't need to water! LOL
