How do I keep them producing flowers all summer?
Daylilies
The only way I know of is to purchase plants labeled as re-bloomers. You can extend the bloom period for non re-bloomers by removing the seed pods after bloom but this will only prolong bloom for a few days in my experience. Most companies that sell day lilies will indicate the varieties that are re bloomers.
vicyres, I buy daylillies at homestead farms in MO. http//www.homesteadfarms.com/ Their descriptions always give an expected date of bloom for their lillys....... early, midseason or late. So i've picked my daylillies to bloom throughout the season. I've got one named Zena that has'nt started buds yet and it'll be the last to bloom.
