I first noticed their work on my radishes, and now they have moved to my broccoli plants. What could they be? What can I use to get rid of them without killing the ladybugs and the baby praying mantises? They are big enough to see without getting right to the plant, but they are pretty tiny as beetles go. They are silvery-iridescent shiny, and tons of them, and they are very busy buggers! I'm in extreme Southwestern Kansas now.
Help-shiny tiny beetles eating my garden!
Hand pick and throw in a bucket of soapy water.
Do you have a pic?
I have little black ones, I leave a light on outside at night and they all fall into the soapy waterpan that's next it.
I have these every year on my black-eyed susans. They are very small, like 1/8 of an inch. They get down in the emerging leaves and buds and just chew away. They are so small they are nearly hidden from view until you take a closer look. I take the easy way out and spray them with bug killer. I am sure to direct the spray in a thin stream to the exact spot...and spray late enough that any bees are gone for the evening.
