Anybody have experience with Wax Myrtles? I planted 4 shrubs about 6 weeks ago and from all the reading I have done at the library they suggest that in order to prevent 'legginess' with shrubs you need to trim the new growth from the top to force bottom growth.
Has anyone ever done this with Wax Myrtles?
Preventing "Leggy" shrubs (Wax Myrtle)
You can wack back wax myrtles as severe and as often as you like. The pruning creates stress which results in new growth. Just ensure they have water in our severe heat. They are a very tough plant. Tough plants for southern gardens.
also rumored to be disliked by mosquitoes, a plus for us Floridians.
