Our first tomato!

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Well there was a tomato there. So, imagine if you will a nice juicy sweet tomato right in the middle of the picture. Of course, my wife swiped it, sliced it and fed it to us before the picture could be taken... it was delicious though!

Hummmm intresting

Made my mouth water just thinking of a fresh, ripe tomato straight from the garden! Ours are still green, but no blossom end rot, so far.

we have 4 more beefsteaks that will be ripe this week!

Fresh Tomato..Ohhh.....Sighhhh..whimper

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

Wish I had my tomotoes, I'm still using store-bought. I sit outside while I'm eating and stare at my tomato plants, trying to imagine they came from my yard-but it's not the same. Don't even have any green ones yet for fried tomotoes.
May I ask what that picture is?

I am so-o-o-o jealous!! Mine are still as green as grass. I've got cukes tho!!!

It's a picture of our empty granite counter top where the tomato was supposed to be for the picture. But it disappeared and was sliced by my wife before the picture could be taken!

LOL Qinx- I was thinking, "What an ugly tomato!" until I actually read your post. Good one.

Ozone, AR(Zone 6a)

Wives are good at that. I made mine disappear from the vine. LOL

Fredericksburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Your wife disappeared from the vine! Great trick... how much did that cost you? LOL

Ozone, AR(Zone 6a)

LOL!! Qinx, I'm the wife, and i made the tomatoes disapear from the vine...right into my mouth.
Now i grow them and i KNOW where they go. Right into my mouth.

I am so jealous.

Mine disappear, too. But they disappear when they reach golfball size. Three huge plants, all very healthy, all have been blooming on and off for four weeks. All set fruit. The fruits get golfball size, almost, and then the next day they are gone. I suspect a rodent: gopher, vole, or ground squirrel. We have them all. Next year, I think the tomatoes will be placed in great upside-down racks on an elevated porch.

But I do have summer squash.

I feel your pain Steve. The chainlink fence, chicken wire, and small moat finally solved my ground squirrel/horse/dog problems but today it appears birds are pecking away at my maters. It's already a 20 minute journey through an obstacle course to enter my garden so what's another few minutes navigating the bird netting it looks like I'll be putting up?

Indianapolis, IN(Zone 5b)

My first tomato! -It's still green and about the size of a quarter, but I'm excited.
