I was thinking about sticking a glass top on it for a nice little side table or plant stand. I have several glass tops stored in a closet from my old macrame table making days. I like your idea about putting in a sphere and obelisk with it. You could do just about anything with a grouping of 3 different shapes and heights. I should be able to make myself a sphere and obelisk. Thanks for the great idea.
Garden Objects #3
Don't you just know that a tree branch came down in the storm and broke my other gold glass gazing ball??? Well, I found a good buy on two silver stainless steel balls on Ebay. I really would have preferred gold ones, but there weren't two matching sizes available and they were really expensive too.
This is one of the few glass ones left that have not broken. At this point, I'm going to wait until the spring to put the silver ones out.
Oh Stormy, so sorry to hear your lost your balls! Ric is very impressed that you now have two stainless steel balls. He says that they shouldn't rust or itch. LOL
All ball jokes aside. That really is a shame that they have been broken I know what it's like to loose a garden object that you really love.
Holly, Ric is always good for a laugh! C'est la vie on the glass balls. I had a tremendous amount of tree branches come down in the storm this week.
This MA forum has been entirely too quiet the past two weeks. It's time to make some noise otherwise it will look like we've been cancelled for lack of interest!!!
Holly, are you sending any daff bulbs to Neil for swap? I hope so because I am sending him 8 fancy types and hope you get some of them.
Look what I found on Ebay. This will be one of DSO's late fall or probably early spring projects. My Hummingbird bench is still disassembled waiting for it's new paint.
I'm still debating what color to paint the glider. I'm thinking of a spring green with peach trim or a cherry red with white trim. (NOT Candy Apple Red like the Bistro Set)
I like this glider because even though it has the appearance of a 3 seater, it is rather small in size not much wider than a love seat. I also really liked the cut out pattern.

Stormy--
I totally agree!!!!! There just is NO activity to speak of on the MA Forum lately--like--ALL Summer!
Since we did not have a Fall Plant Swap--it left the Forum--kind of--inactive. No one stepped up to host it. Jill is to busy being a Mom--Holly is too busy slaving in her garden--Sally has her hands full with her kids and school---who else is there?
I check in several times a day--and there are hardly any new Posts,,,,,BUMMER!!!!!
I think we need an "Opinion Post"---on whatever! That always gets people HOT and going......
Ric--I volunteer YOU to start one! Pick a topic! I dare you!!!!
All kinds of Fall events are approaching......
Gita
Gita, That's one of your more stunning outfits. Didn't know you were into Goth. Ok, let's get busy posting. My other chores can wait.
Gita, Ya look better clowning around than a bag of bones! LOL :-) Ric
I always said--that when I put on a party--I work myself "to the bone".....
So--that outfit was quite appropriate.....
I wish i could find the picture of me in a long, black gown--with a low-cut "V" neckline--and purple, teased hair......I tell you--I got a lot of extra "looks"......
AHHH--Her it is! I am the broad on the left.......
Gita, you make a lovely friendly happy looking clown. I'm not a big fan of the sad looking clowns.
sorry about the balls Stormy..... great photo Gita
Stormy, Yes, I sent daffs in, sorry to say that I won't get your fancy daffs. I asked for all yellow daffs for my new bed. I know that Neil got quite a few plain yellow daffs and since I have that big empty bed I thought I could use those. I waited too long to dig the Easter Bonnets that I was planing on sending and then couldn't get to them. So I bought Jetfire, Ice King, Ice Follies and a mixed pink blend. I sent Neil 5 of each and the extras will go in my wall bed. I love that glider they are so comfortable to sit on. Josh has one at his river place and I could sit there all day just watching the river flow past.
Gita, Those costumes are such a fit. Ric and I use to go to a costume party at the non-com club on the base where we worked. It was always so much fun to dress up. I think you look great!
It has been quiet here all summer, but I think that is has been quiet on a lot of the other forums, too. Not sure why, people just busy with their garden work and vacations? I wander around DG quite a bit watergardening , trash 2 treasure, garden art are regular stops but I poke my nose in all most all the areas even if I don't post in all of them. Hey Gita that would be a theme for your opinion thread What other forums do you visit. What interesting things did you learn what do you like about them. We could post links to other threads that we found particular interesting.
Holly, that's a great idea for a new thread.
Unfortunately MA has been plagued by injuries, illnesses, and sick loved ones this summer. We've all been trying to catch up on our gardening from these items.
We've also been blessed with a baby gardener who is now officially Critterette!!!! Maybe soon we'll all be back into the swing of things.
You are right Stormy, It has been a rough summer for many of us in the MA region. Hope you are feeling better, too. I see you have been very busy visiting all the old threads.
Critterette, LOL Ric and I were lucky enough to visit for a few hours and actually see and hold dear sweet Joyanna. She is just the sweetest baby I took my camera but never did get any pictures. You should have seen Ric carrying that baby around with this big smile on his face. Jill and Jim have really been blessed and I can't think of a nicer couple. Jim's face just beams Proud new Papa. LOL
Yes, Aunt Holly, It is wonderful for Critter and Jim. I just hope everyone gets well. I never got any more work done on my garden objects this summer. Some of the new pots and my big ones from the basement didn't even get planted even though I had the plants. I will buy less annuals next year., but then again I shouldn't be planting as many perennials next year.
leave it to me to find the 8" christmas balls on sale... here ya go Stormy.. not sure if they will work.. but I will keep my eye out for more.. silver and white... gold on gold... and red on gold

Thanks, Onewish. I will check it out.
Stormy, I love your glider! My vote is for spring green with peach trim :) No new objects here but I was tempted last weekend! One of my favorite vendors at Lewis Ginter showed up with a variety of new items he's been working on. I'm saving my money for next year or maybe I'll ask for a gift certificate for Christmas :) His website really needs some "work", most of his unique pieces aren't even listed! http://www.expertmetalworks.com/ He had a wonderful Iris sculpture, a bit pricey ($150), but a beautiful piece of art and I think he sold three of them last weekend! Some of his prices are more than reasonable, as low as $12.00, and he has a lot of imagination creating funky art with old tools :)
Stormy, Love the glider! Sadly mine is still not painted, Paul said he was going to sand blast it for me, I am still waiting. I'll store my red and white paint in the basement for next spring.
I REALLY like your glider Stormy. Can't wait to see it painted. My grandchildren all gave me something for the garden or gardening for my 20th birthday. I put some in the gardens because they insisted on helping me do so. I'll save the remainder for next year.
They helped me take these pictures.
This was some of the stuff that we didn't put in. Also received some awesome gardening books, hand and foot lotions, from the grandchildren and a webcam so that we could see each other thru skype when we communicate.
Roses, They are all too cute!! I can definitely see the resemblance with the garden lady. But you are way too much fun and better looking than that grumpy gnome. Wow, what a fabulous gift they gave you. Maybe Paris for your 80th, or would that be your 30th?
I really like the glider. I searched on Ebay for one within 100 miles. It turned out to be up in Schuykillhaven. It made for a nice drive through lots of nice farmland. I was able to find some newly manufactured straps for it also on Ebay from a guy who makes them.
all to cute RRR
Geez, Stormy,
I can't imagine what you thought when I posted that it was my 20th birthday. You are so wonderfully tactful and eloquent in the way you suggested that I had made an error with the first post!! It was my 70th birthday, as you all may have guessed.
LOL Roses. I admit that I had to read your post several times. But I concluded that you were making a joke and not an error. I was just trying to keep the joke going!!
Oh Roses I thought you were just discounting the first 50 and starting to count new from there. LOL
What nice and thoughtful children you have.
I love your garden art so cute that I love them all. That garden lady is adorable and the gnome is great. Are all the stepping stones the same or do they have different leaves in them? Of course I love that chicken.
Thank you all for your lovely comments on my garden gifts. Holly, the stepping stones are different. Two have wind/sun faces, one says "welcome to my garden" and one says "Dream".
Actually, it is a joke to be seventy years old. Mostly because you keep thinking like a 20 year old and, over and over again, something happens that reminds you that you're not.
Roses, I know you're right about that. Both my mother and my 84 year old sailing buddy told me that they still feel like teenagers inside. I know I still do. It's always a wake up call when I realize how far past half time I actually am.
Amen to all that!!!!
I don't even want to set foot in a Senior center Yet.....even though i am WAAAAAAY qualified....:o)
What's that old saying? "The mind is willing but the flesh is weak"....
Gita
Seventy four is like fifty with a mental unawareness of the twenty four years that passed inbetween. Then one tries to heave ho on fifty feet of water filled garden hose only to find out the mental awareness is astray.
Another observation.......when the fifties run down the street in short shorts the seventies might work the rocking chair a tad faster three or four times but then a bird distracts and captures the interest.
LOL, Doc!! When I was down in Cape May, NJ this summer, in preparation for a large dinner gathering we drove over to a larger supermarket in a nearby town. The supermarket was full of women in their 50's through 70's wearing short shorts, not bermudas. To my further amazement, so many of them were sporting multiple tatoos. I concluded that it must be a cheaper way to disguise the ravishes of time on the skin than plastic surgery.
Well, the paint on the bistro set didn't fade much this summer, but the Begonias grew and caught up with it in color.
That begonia setting is lovely. Strange....I rarely see nice things like this until someone else has done it. Guess that makes me a Japanese Engineer.
In all fairness I judged that frog to be a big buck bull frog. After all no female would get so hyped and stressed that she would blow the eyeballs right out of her head.
