Pua KeniKeni

Lahaina, HI

Can anyone please help us with this tree? I can not figure out why it is droopy and looks to be dying.

I tried giving it more water, did not work looks worse so I am assuming maybe it gets to much water.
Is it buried to deep, and do I need to lift it up out of the soil? Any suggestions would help. Or I will have to take it out and put something else there. I live in Lahaina, Hi.

Did you just replant it? I could just have root shock.

Hows'it Deedee! Pua Kenikeni, Fagraea berteroana, loves water; it does well on the windward side.
It needs full sun and lots of water in a well drained rich soil. If it is sitting in water, it may be getting root rot; but Lahaina is very hot and dry.
The tree also needs a good amount of room; looks like the place is a little small where you have it.
If you could move it to a place with more room and good soil, it may have a better chance.

If you were hoping to grow a fragrant tree for making lei, the Pua Malia variety of Plumeria is excellant for that, and likes Lahaina weather more than Pua Kenikeni.
Pua Malia, Plumeria has large white flowers with a yellow eye, and is exceptionally fragrant!

If it's been there a while (hasn't just been transpanted there) I'd say it's a root problem. Maybe a root grub eating it.
If it's just transplanted there, I use Quick Start (by Mirical Grow). Half a capful in a gallon of water and I never see any shock in any of my transplants.
And if it was in the shade and you just put it in full sun, it may look like that before getting sunburn.
