Throw our wintercreeper?

Hot Springs Village, AR(Zone 7b)

I bought a "shade garden" mix from Spring Hill Nursery and one of the plants was Purple Wintercreeper. When I Googled on it, I found a lot of dire warnings about how invasive it is. Is there any way to easily contain it, or should I just throw it out?

I don't know how deep the runners go but you can probably contain it by some pound in edging. If you lived closer I'd take it.

Looks like it would be nice in a hanging basket. But it's possible that you have mis-identified. http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/66847/

Purpleleaf wintercreeper is probably Euonymus fortunei, which shouldn't be planted anywhere, in my estimation.

No matter where you plant it (hanging basket, contained by edging, etc.), this plant spreads by seeds that birds eat and poop out. That is not stopped by your gardening practices.

It is an invasive pest plant in most of the eastern US, including Arkansas, here in KY, NJ, and everywhere in between. There are so many other quality non-pestiferous plants you could grow instead. Eliminate this one in favor of others.
