I've been hearing good things about Sea Magic. Before I go out and get some, I'd be interested to know any opinions as to its effectiveness, especially on foliar feeding of veggie plants. How often do/can I spray the stuff on the plants?
Sea Magic. Anyone Tried this stuff on Veggie Plants?
First I here about Dri water, now Sea Majic. PLEASE PLEASE tell me what this fine product do? I will try and get a good nights sleep. OK realy what is it? :)
Sea Magic is a seaweed concentrate in small packets that you mix with water and either spray directly on plant foliage or water into seedlings. It is supposed to increase vegetable yields, blooming, pest & disease resistance and general growth. Most of the reviewers on the commercial sites are saying the thing is among the best they have used and can boost production by as much as 40%, and some even say it revives dying veg plants.
Just how many of these reviews are written by the marketing department of the company that sells the stuff, I just don't know. I've seen it in a nursery nearby me and if it's really that good, I may give it a try.
I don't want to buy it and experiment by spraying only half my plants with Sea Magic to see the difference, as if it is as good as it sounds i'd be kicking myself for not spraying all the plants with it.
Besides, who knows if these adjuncts are purely psychological, just like how the fuel additives I toss in my car's gas tank really do or do not clean its fuel injectors...
I don't know about Sea Magic exactly, but I use Sea Soil, which was recommended by all my co-workers. It's got all the goodness of the sea and everything I have planted in it has thrived. I think it would be along the same line as Sea Magic though.
Hmmm.... Sea Soil. That stuff looks good! Especially good to see the use of coir as a growing medium instead of ripping up all that peat moss and destroying the ecosystem..
Looks like Sea Soil is an actual soil amendment as opposed to a sprayable liquid fertilizer though, so they could both complement one another. I haven't seen this available here in NJ though unfortunately. I use something called BumperCrop to condition the soil. Its $11 per 2 cubic ft bag, and 1-2 bags can be used in a 4ft x 8ft raised bed area.
I think I'm going to give the Sea Magic a try. At $5 per 250 quart mix its not too expensive...
Never heard of Sea Magic but I use liquified seaweed with good results. I can't claim a 40% increase but last year I did see a difference between peppers grown with and without the seaweed formula....guessing around 25%. A gallon of concentrate is about $25 locally and makes some ridiculous amount....1200+ gallons. More than I'll probably ever use.
Hey GreenG. Thanks For the info, the price is right and I'll try it too. That fuel injector cleaner works. Several friends have cured their engine woes and I have used it for 5 years or better. Two dollars every four tanks is well worth it. Thanks again for the info.
I use fish emulsion/liquid seaweed in my garden all the time and it works very well. I get it in the huge gal. jug and it lasts forever.
Hey Steph I love any thing that has Sea or Fish on the lable. You would never guess my favorite past time. Crazyfish out roger.
Growing up, we had a neighbor who did everything organically and they were big on outdoorsy stuff. They would go fishing, come home clean the fish, then throw the fish heads and guts into their garden beds. Their veggies and flower beds were awesome, so I guess they were onto something with the fish!
OK. I'm convinced. Hopefully I'll have to invest in a machete to cut down all that extra growth & veggies. Maybe the reviews were right after all... ;0)
I know this is an old post, but I wanted to make a comment on this stuff. I got some from Burbee and I absolutely love it. I wish I had tried it years ago. My indoor plants are much healthier and they seem to grow faster. As for bringing a plant back from the brink of death...it works too. I had a couple angels trumpets that were very sad looking. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong and was almost ready to put them in the compost pile. I watered w/ this stuff and within a couple hours they looked perfect.
GreenGuvnor,
Did it work for you?
