I have a cute little viney red oxalis, she was doing well, and had cute little yellow flowers popping off of her, but suddenly the leaves all fell off her. the vines still have nice color on it though, I was wondering if all oxalis plants have a time for dormacy, that I should set her away from light and stop watering her or if she is slowly but surely dying.....
Thanks for your time
oxalis...has it gone dormant?
Oxalis prefer cool temperatures, especially while in bloom. Keep them in a cool room at night (50-65º) and avoid letting them get warmer than 70-75º during the day. Warmer temperatures will encourage them to go dormant earlier.
If the plant has already bloomed in the past year and hasn't had a rest period, it may just be exhausted and need a few months dormancy. If it is young and yet to bloom, it may need more light.
After blooming, if the plant dies back, allow it to go dormant for 1-3 months. The corms should be kept cool and dry. After dormancy, repot and or divide the corms (optional). When signs of new growth emerge, begin to water, fertilize and move to a sunny spot.
I am glad to see that I am not the only one who injoys the look of these "weeds" I havent had any luck poting one though
