Hi,
Its been raining on and off here for a couple of weeks and my previously weed-free sweet corn & melon areas now has thousands & thousands of little weeds poking their heads up, almost like a carpet.
Does anyone have any suggestions how I can get rid of the things? I was going to try corn gluten but the things are already growing, and I'd rather not spray with chemicals...
Thanks!

We are getting the same weather.. havn't seen a full day of the sun in 3 weeks. And I think that only lasted 1 or two days. I get tons of weeds every year and wait untill they fill in good and are strong enough to pull them out with the roots, I usually do it while the soil is soaked after a rain than go over it with a hand tiller. Be careful around the corn, they have roots relatively high up that help it stand up. if I usually fill in with straw after that.

Thanks for your help!
I think I'm due for a downpour on Thursday. I may wait until then and try to pull up/hoe as much as I can, then throw down some straw/mulch. Between that and burying 150ft of chicken fence to keep out my celery-loving rabbits I have my work cut out for me...
rabbits too? my problems are the squirrels with the corn, I ended up covering the whole 10x12 field with pvc, rebar, and bird netting.. i feel for you

Rabbits, Deer & Birds.
The birds seem to like the shiny foil and spinners I put out to scare them off. They just sit there and watch them like its some free entertainment. I've already covered the 50 x 25 area in deer fencing to keep the deer out (I hope), then the rabbits ate through it and decimated the celery. Had to dig a 6" trench and bury 36 inch chicken fencing with a 6" flange facing outwards to confuse them.
Next comes the barbed wire fence, and a sentry posted on each corner with a water cannon ;)
As if weeds aren't bad enough...
