I expanded my garden 10' x 30' in fall 2008 and used 8" of hardwood sawdust to thoroughly mix into the tight clay soil. I also added about 1 pound of 10-10-10 fertilizer this spring when tilling. I've planted sqaush, cucmbers and green beans. The sprout, but turn yellow and don't seem to be growing well. Peas are growing well, as are onions.
Any ideas of what I should check for?
Yellowing Plants
The sawdust is tying up the nitrogen while decomposing. You need to add some 20-0-0 fertilizer to replace that nitrogen.
