Epiphyllum Oxypetalum Blooming!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Money will not be so tight soon, so maybe in a couple of months I can hire one of the kids around here to help. If I can find a kid that wants to work. LOL

Sandy, sorry about your shoulder. Hope you get it straightened out soon. Thought hit me about watering. Is there any way that you could hook up a drip hose in your shade house in the ceiling with a timer attached? I have some orchids which I have sitting in a large tray with on legs with drip holes under the deck. My DH attached a drip hose to the boards under the deck and they have spent the summer out there and seem to be quite happy. We came up with this idea because we spend a lot of time away in the summer and it is too much to ask my good neighbor to water them in the summer (she does it the 3 1/2 months we are in FL in the winter). I would send you a picture, but am packing to leave for FL in the morning. If you think it might work, let me know and when I get back, I will send you some pictures. Sort of fearful of what we may find when we get back to DeLand as I've heard FL has been overrun with bugs and all kinds of bad things for plants!

Jean I am thinking on the idea of drip system, but first must finish the benches which should be next month and then need to put some solar power fans in there. And then will think of the water system but first want all the plants in clay pots.

I mostly survived the Mri. I have very wide shoulders and it was a tight fit.

I agree about the clay pots. They seem to be better as the plastic ones seem to keep things too wet and the clay seems to let the roots "breathe". Glad you are beyond the MRI. Hope you get both your shoulder problem and the benches done soon!

Thanks

At least it is starting to cool down and maybe I can soon get out there and do some work.

Jean and Sandy, I have a watering container system at my Summer place, it works wonderfull and you do not have to worry about watering anymore. I did get a timer for it though, which adds to the costs of the system. I gotta find the name for you Sandy, I forgot which system I bought, but it did not costs more than $50 and it covers tons of pots i have there. Besides, it is easy to install and connect, all you need is a pair of scissors...

Yes ... inquiring minds want to know what that watering system is!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Yes!!!!! That has been the biggest problem this summer, that and the 100+ temps out there. LOL

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

That is a pretty flower Clemen. How many of these do you have blooming?.

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

About 14 different varieties, you can grow some on your windows in NYC, some of those passis do beautiful indoor and bloom! Of course Torrie will fight to get to see outside, but she may like the greens too, lol!

New York, NY(Zone 6b)

Oh, the greens are edible?.

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

This one will do fine indoors..there are many others too..no the greens are not edibles!

Love the passies but they get eaten down here by the caterpillars. So it is a toss up beautiful butterflies or beautiful flowers. LOL

oh, all your passies are so pretty! May be next year I will have some. It had finally stopped raining here today, but I think more to come tomorrow night.
