What is growing with my basil

I got the purple basil and there was a friend growing next to it. At first I thought it was basil, but yesterday when I tried it it kind of had a licorice taste to it, not a basil taste...

There is licorice basil.

I think it may be licorice basil. According to one of my herb books it has purple veined leaves. It certainly looks like a basil.

When I've let my basil get exposed to too much sun it picks up a licorice flavor.
