We planted our first garden this year. We did square ft. boxes. 3 of them...they are 4 x 8 ft. My squash plants aren't doing so hot so I am thinking of pulling them up...and planting something else but I don't know what. I pulled out my pumpkin, watermelon and cantelope because they were in the center box and over-running everything but not producing anything that was surviving. So I have that box empty as well. My tomatoes, Japanese eggplant, bell pepper, green eggplant, garlic, lettuces, cucumbers are doing great.
My question would be...here now in the beginning of June...what could I plant in those empty boxes since it's getting in to the heat of the summer? Any suggestions? I'd love to try peas again...would they survive the heat? (my 3 year old devoured the few plants I had...ate the peas straight off the vine...they never made it to the table.)
What to plant next?
