Keeping on the "red" theme. Red-winged blackbird. No shortage of these to shoot.
Daily pic. Vol. #222
Mrs_Ed that's a Red-tailed Hawk for sure, look's like he's having a snack.
Hey Burd, you're right. I hadn't seen that. Hope it wasn't an oriole. I could not believe the racket it was making! I zoomed in on the originals and really can't tell.
I love the Red Headed Woodpecker Mrs_Ed! I've seen them before, but now that I'm into taking pics I want to see one up close and personal. :)
they are difficult to find these days, 24. i happen to know one area where I see them often. I believe I found one of the areas where they store food.
Here is what cornell says…
Breeding Bird Survey data show the species is declining over much of its breeding range. An edge species, it declines where forests mature. It is increasing in areas where beavers are increasing and creating more flooded beaver meadows with dead snags.
should increase here then. There are a couple of stands of red maples in the area which have been swamped by beavers.
You guys have been busy! Love all your shots!
Such cute photos. You all sure make it fun to come here!
Time for a new start.
