ooooo...he looks like he flew right out of my pillow!
Daily pic. Vol. #222
Lovely pics everyone. I have missed taking part in the forum but my laptop had a short in its port ;)) and I cannot connect to the internet, which makes me out of sort! (I'm a poet and didn't know it!)
So all i've been able to do is lurk sneakily while I'm at work but can't post any pics! I enjoy viewing the pictures but it's more fun to participate!
my hubby has been quite ill too so that has occupied my time lately. Everything gonna be OK though. He's a real trooper.
Great shots duc! love the Tree Swallows.
cb, So glad he is going to be okay!
CB, sorry about your laptop. Hope your hubby is well soon.
I went out to the marsh today to discover airboats everywhere. The seismographic people have been drilling and placing charges. Soon they will be laying cable and blasting. I hope it does not chase all the birds off their nest. They run those lines in straight lines so the airboats have been all out in the reeds and marsh grasses. I knew when I first got there that something was wrong because the bird count was way down from the usual. Here is a bird I always like to see. Purple Gallinule

duc, I don't think I'll get to see the Orioles at that stage this year. I found a hatchling in the pasture yesterday. It's probably the Jays.
I did have some fledge last year, but it was a constant rescue effort. Twice we replaced one in the nest that had fallen/been bumped out too early, and one morning one was hanging by it's tongue on the outside of the nest. It had gotten tangled in the nesting materials, and they were wrapped several times around the tongue. The tongue has barbs at the back, much like a fish hook. Holding something so tiny and cutting the materials free is not something I look forward to doing again.
On the plus side, I've not seen House Sparrows here in two years. Now, if I could get the Starlings to leave................
Wow great shots everyone!!
Frank, I love the Green Heron!
GP, Nice one of the peeping Mockingbird!
Onewish, I think they may be juvenile European Starlings.
Burn, Such a cute White-crowned Sparrow!
thank you Pelle... they were aggressive for sure... were chasing the grackles away
Yep, juv. Starlings.
Resin
thanks for confirming Resin
Thanks for the new thread Lily with that beautiful Egret! You are most fortunate to live in that bird watching paradise!
Some great shots on this fast moving thread everyone and it is a joy to see what everyone else is seeing.
We have Barn Swallow fledglings and I was able to get some shots in the past week.
Here is one taken on June 8th.
Wonderful pics Dellrose!!! The juveniles are so cute and their such a handsome bird!
Dellrose, that swallow is adorable! I love the colors.
Tigerlily, what terrible time you had. Mother Nature can sure be cruel.
Frank, I love the Green Heron photos and the action shot of the Red-winged. I do hope those boats don't disturb the nests. This is a terrible time for them to be working in the marsh. I would think your local birders would put up a fuss about the noise and disturbances. I know ours wouldn't allow that to happen.
Burn, great photos. I love the Downeys and the White-crowned Sparrows.
I was taking pictures of this Acorn Woodpecker at our state park and didn't even notice I'd also captured a Flycatcher!
Oh neat! Don't you just love it when that happens? Nice one duc!
Dellrose, your little Jay is so cute. There sure is no mistaking that "baby" mouth. My juvenile Scrub Jays sure are getting their bluer coloring quickly.
