Out of the two garden shops I could find (K-Mart and Target... :( ) there were virtually no potted plants. Certainly none that had been listed as my suggested indoor starters. I'm sure I could track down a nursery in my area, and I'm sure I will. However, I was desperate to start today. I bought four packets of seeds: Lychnis, Foxglove, Hollyhock, Coleus, and Convolvulus. Of course, they didn't have any small pots with drain holes, so I picked some up at the local thrift store.
I bought these knowing absolutely nothing about how, when, or where I can grow them. I am very eager to plant them in pots and put them up in my room. As stated in a previous post, I have a window on the East and the North side of my bedroom. Can I keep these plants inside? Where should I put them? How often should I water them? Any other tips the gurus can provide? Thanks!

Okay, it has begun!!!
You might find a lot more help in the seed starters forum. aloha
Here's a link to the seed starting forum if you haven't been there before http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/germination/all/ I will add that the plants you mention are not ones that are typically grown as houseplants, they are normally outdoor garden plants so I'm not sure how they will do indoors. I know hollyhocks like full sun, so they will probably not get enough light indoors which will tend to make them leggy and may not bloom. Coleus can grow in shade and it's grown primarily for foliage instead of flowers so it may do better with indoor light levels. Foxglove, Lychnis & convolvulus I'm not sure about, but I think they need a decent amount of sun too. Starting seeds is always a good learning experience so no reason not to give them a try, but you may want to keep looking for some of the houseplants that people recommended for you too since they are more likely to thrive in your conditions.
