New June flowers thread

Nice shot Jen!

I think that this Heuch is Silver Scrolls. These are not typical Heuch blooms. They really are quite large and have some substance.

Love the blooms on that one, very pretty.

Peachleaf bellflower. I grew these from seed and thought they were all going to be white. They came out white, blue and lavender. They really do well in the shade. I have some white ones that get sun that grew from last year's seed to 5' tall.

Thanks, Jen.

Tickseed Coreopsis grown from seed last year. I had 6 of these only 2 came back. I find Coreopsis to be only marginally hardy for me.

A Delphinium blooming down at base level. Well at least it won't need to be staked!

Itea Little Henry. Another great reliable shade bloomer. This year I bought a Little Henry "Scarlet" It's supposed to get brilliant red fall color. Developed right here at the arboretum at Swarthmore College.

Lynchnis Maltese Cross. This blooms very well in the shade. It gets very tall 40". When wet it will flop and need to be staked, but what a vivid color for shade.

Heuch Mahogany starting to change to the color of it's name. The more the summer goes on, the deeper Maroon the color will be.

Asiatic Lily "First Class". A screaming color under the Maples. I have 6 bunches of these.

Chantell, These were new this year, but next year I can probably give you some if you like this bright a color. They are about 3' tall this year, but may get taller next year.

NOID Border Lilies. A really great color with a very long blooming period. They are about 24" tall.

Norristown, PA(Zone 6b)

These lilies have been increasing every year. This is their 3rd year. They are sort of a deep orange with deeper red centers. These are growing directly within 6 feet of the black walnut. Another vivid flash of color in the shade garden. They get morning sun.

Chantell, if you like this one, I can give you some later in the summer when the foliage dies.

Stormyla, There was an Itea on the garden tour yesterday, the fragance was enough to knock your socks off. WOW We saw another one later in the day that didn't have near the fragance impact. Chantell do you have them?
From the tour.

Holly, mine is mildly fragrant. I have 2 of them about 12 ' apart.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

Stormyla, I would say that the second one was mildly fragrant, actually I could barely smell it. That first one was a real WOW. Wonder if there are different varieties or if it was something else. I don't have much of a sense of smell so if I take that much notice it's a really strong fragrance.

I've been trying to turn it bluer--must have worked in some areas....Last year the blooms were mostly pink.
I love the color variety...

Gita, I just love that Endless Summer Hydrangia. Ric

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Had to run out and re-take these--the first picture was not good...

These are the Chinese Regale Lilies I so fell in love with in Latvia....
Then I bought a few bulbs from John Scheepers (thanks hart). I was not expecting to see white ones--as all the others were the dark pink outside and yellowish white inside. See the bud above the white ones? That will be that one....maybe a couple more days....

Thumbnail by Gitagal
Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

This one just opened this morning.....
Someone in another state sent me 3 bulbs of this one from her garden...WHY? Because this Lily is called "Latvia".....
The darn rabbits chewed down the first two that sprouted...so this will, probably, be the only one i will see.....

Looks like someone sprinkled Paprika on it....:o)

Look at aall the buds (there are more on the other side) on the Rose Souvelons Brug!!!
I tell you--this one is such a good bloomer.....will have 3-4 flushes throughout the season.

And--Doc--this one is for you....again....
Some of the next batch of blooms to open on the Red Epi.....

Ric--I'll have to root a low branch of that Endless Summer Hydrangea for you.

How is the one doing that I gave you? Remember--it is from my neighbor's. it hasn't bloomed yet--I will send you a picture when it does....

Well--Here is a close-up from last year....Somewhere I have a picture of the whole bush.....

That Silver Scrolls is gorgeous, Stormy. And those lilies - wow!

Gita, I wish I could get hydrangeas to grow here. I just love those big blooms. Yours is beautiful.

There are white Regale lilies called Album. Sounds like one of those bulbs got mixed in with your regular ones. The regular ones have the dark pink buds that open to white with pink.

Album are just white. http://www.lilies.org/speciesgallery/pages/regalealbum.html

Stormy, I have no idea how you get lilies to live under black walnuts either. It's magic. LOL

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

Gosh, hart-----Those white lilies look just like mine---except I only have 3 on the stem....

There will be another variety of Lily next to these--they are just still in bud....

Stormy the orange asiatic's seem to glow in that area. I also like your lychnis but I was wondering if the car in the picture is a garden object or if a friend left it for you? I find all kinds of things in my beds at home. Today I found a sparkly super bouncing ball LOL. I find baseballs all the time.

Gita I like where you planted the nasturtium. I have read you can eat it. Have you tried it?

I'm sure they're Regale Album, Gita. They just got a bulb mixed up. Don't you just love lilies? So pretty and the scent is so wonderful.

Nasturtiums are surprisingly hot and peppery. A friend used to put them in salads, sometimes pansies. Beautiful lilies, Gita. Stormyla, my 'Silver Scrolls' doesn't bloom anything like that, but I'm not sure of mine's ID.

'Dolly Madison' lilies starting to bloom, much better than last year

Love that color, Claypa. Yes, I've tried nasturtium in salad and they were too peppery for me, but I'm a complete wimp about spicy hot food.

Here's the fuschia I found on sale at Lowes yesterday for $2.50. The hummers will love it. I like the little blooms, which are blue inside.

Walmart had these really healthy looking dahlias on sale for $1.25. I do love a plant bargain. LOL

Gita, That hydrangea is doing great. We still have it in a pot as we haven't picked a spot for it yet. I have a couple spots in mind. I was wondering could you give me an idea of how large this one will grow. It would help me decide
My files have buds but no flowers yet and the wonderful daylilies that Ruby and John gave us have buds, too. Can't wait to see those.
Promised Ladyg, pics of my lamppost bed. Needs a bit of work as there are still tulip and daff leaves that I haven't cleaned up yet and some annuals to add after I do that. There is the center trellis on the lamp and 3 of the panels each with a different clematis on them. I have it filled with spring bulbs, then come the summer perennials and some extra annuals with the asters and chrysthamums for fall color.

Holly, that's just beautiful. I love, love, love those trellises. Yummy.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

This is The President clematis that is growing on the lamppost. It is pretty old as we planted it many years ago. It is always the first to open.
