I have a very rectangle shaped 2 story home that is brick on the bottom half and off white siding on the top half. I have thought a lot about the front of the house and the landscaping and know that I want to us yellows and plums (Purple smoke tree, deep plum and yellow barbary and some yellow mop head.
Know for the question: at the corner of the house I want to put an evergreen. What size should I put? Should it be as tall as the house, half the size, or somewhere in between? I would love to put a golden Hinoki False Cypress there but open to other suggestions. I like the more pyramidal shape.
Thanks in advance.
Please Help
I like the purple and yellow combo you picked. I like the idea of the evergreen same height as the house on the corner. I have huge arborvitaes and HATE them. I looked at the pics of the Hinoki and when it gets big it doesn't look like it retains the pyramid shape, I guess you have to keep it pruned???
Is it dark or light brick?
Ohhhh thanks for the insight. I dont want to prune. The brick is the regular red brick with some of them having black so I guess that would be dark but not the real dark brick.
Do tell why you hate the large arborvitaes. LOL
Maybe I need to put up some pics to give an idea what I am working with. I shall do that tomorrow after I do the Walk for the Cure (or as my adult son calls it "Walk for the Tatas). I would rather pay $50 and Vegatate at Home for the Cure. hahahahaha
Any ideas as to what to put there?
As long as you have nice weather for the walk it's not too bad, I had a blast when I used to do those.
I'll show you why I hate the arborvitaes, see them right up against the house???Hubby always has to prune them and they just keep growing, too close to the house, they would make a good "fence" for the property line.
