OH Ann .. I am smiling ear to ear .. see ^_^
Leila is just a charmer .. she is so sweet !! AND .. my favourite .. BABIES FEET !!! When my grands were teenie and I would hold them .. I could NOT resist holding those little feet and kissing them ..
Re the housing .. and prices .. GOOD GRIEF .. 1million+ would have purchased City Hall in Thunder Bay (kidding) .. DBI and his wife moved to BC .. Summerland a month ago .. their home cost in excess of $450,000. When I saw the pics I was thunder struck !! Here in TBay there would have been acerage involved and perhaps a pool as well !!
OH MY .. wait til Betty sees the wicker chair .. what a wonderfully novel idea .. and I am almost poitive those are roses growing through the seat? Beautiful ...
The scenario re the line up at the airport sounds horrendous and SO unfair !!! Glad you spoke up ..
My Hospice client is doing not so bad .. she SO wants to go home .. but .. has just been put on a full fluid diet today after NO food for 4 days .. so .. I am thinking she'll be in for another few days ..
Rain .. well .. spitter, spatter .. nothing much to be outrageously happy about .. we were hoping for a STEADY downpour for a few hours .. maybe it'll come .. off to check on it ..
Toodles

What's Happening in Your neighborhood-visit with friends #19
14C here .. and we are still waiting on the RAIN!!!
Went and picked up some perennials today .. Purple Salvia, bright yellow Coreopsis and some ornamental grasses .. AND .. I broke down and bought a flat of mixed Petunias to put around some of my Cannas.
Everything is planted .. and the mosquitoes are WELL fed !!
Saw more then the usual amount of wildlife today .. guess the bugs are driving them from the saftey of the bush as well .. a Doe and 2 sweet spotted fawns .. a large black bear .. and a young bull moose . luckily none of them ran in front of the car !!!!
Am attaching a pic of my brother Bob (RJ) .. his grandson is studying in Edinburgh this summer and he sent Bob a Kilt/sporin and dress socks .. it's out family tartan .. Douglas ..
The pic has a bit of a humorous element to it .. proves my point about checking where you stand before you take a pic LoL
Enjoy your Sunday ...
~M~
LOL..I see what you mean, Marilynne. Too funny...
Morning from rainy Ontario..
Saturday was superb..did some local town Canada Day celebrations, bought myself 6 lily's..attended home town Legion Celebration..even entertained troops young and old, danced the pow-wow with Christian Island indian band..omg, know some were taking photo's let's just hope mine doesn't end up on some paper!
Sunday was a raining day so did some sewing, got my 'July quilt block' done for a swap I'm in..one for me and one for my partner..ended up going to see 'the proposal'...had a heart attack.. lol...a friend June had called and because it was raining wanted to know if I wanted to go see the movie..ok...$8.50 to get in..so not paying attention to the concession sign I saw you could get 1 popcorn, 2 pop and bag of licorice as a combo so why not...then the sales clerk told me the cost..omg it was over $18.00 WOW...won't do that again...
Yesterday I managed to roll 288 diapers for my diaper cake..won't need that many but while I was at it thought I'd do them all up..so, at lunch I'll go to Michaels and purchase ribbon .. baby will be a boy so need something in blues/green..shower isn't until July 12th so still have time to purchase everything that I attach to the cake...
Going to be a longgggg day...
Diaper cake?????
DonM47 - nice Campanula. Mine is blooming but doesn't look quite that nice. I've started quite a few from seed for next year.
Thank you, Ann. I got 5 plants from our very own threegardeners (Lee Anne) last summer. There are doing just awesome. The photo above is a closeup of just 1/4 of the stand of lovely Campanula I have growing in a corner bed; 4 blue and one white. ^_^
Did Lee Anne send them to you or were you in the East? If she sent them, how did she package them? I've sent hostas, but they are pretty sturdy.
Ann
What is a Diaper cake, please?
-Susan-
Here are some images of diaper cakes - disposable diapers put together in the shape of a fancy cake. http://images.google.ca/images?q=diaper+cake&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=cfFIStbQL8metgfyrdnBBg&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&ct=title&resnum=868866145
Hope the link works. It did when I previewed it, but ...
Good Morning:
Well, she's up, she's down - my energy level just won't stay constant.
Had 4 vials of blood (and a "pee in the cup, please") taken on Friday, now just waiting for the Dr. to get the results.... I have an app't with him on the 6th at 4:10pm.
Someone told me yesterday that I didn't look well, and my head was hot, while my upper chest was cold & clammy. I'm going to be carefully watching my diet. It doesn't seem to be "sweet-related", but who knows.......there's too much of the darned stuff in the house, and very hard to resist! My DH seems to thrive on it LOL
Right now I'm feeling good, not dragged at all, but then COFFEE's good for that lol
-Susan-
Susan, meant to say I LOVE the art work on your hand...now how long will it last???? You haven't been well now for some time, sure hope you find out why...as for the treats, maybe don't be buying them..lol
Yes, I make diaper cakes but mine are so filled with goodies that it's NOT a cheap thing to make..almost have to mortgage the house to pay for the treats..lol
Don, don't think it's made it to 20 here today...
On Saturday I purchased 6 lily's, suppose to be so fragrant but don't bloom until end of July/early August..can't wait...
Ann, LeeAnn sent mailed them to me. She had them advertised in DG marketplace last June. She packaged them up really well and they came in wonderful shape.
BUT...it must have been fate that we were talking about Campanulas early this morning. :(
I went out to water later after posting and noticed my back garden didn't look quite right, but just then, my neighbour yelled to me that we had another fawn born just two doors down from me.
Hiya Betty - the Henna was done on Thurs afternoon, and I was told it should last 1 week.
As for my being unwell - it's not constant, so that's a good thing.
I had some yogurt mid-morning, and it played havoc with my energy... and I love yogurt!
Now I'm feeling good again - I'll see how that lasts, now that I've had lunch.
Darn it's cold in the office - they have the airconditioning on lol
First time I had to use the heater, under my desk, all winter!
Looks warm outside (18c), so I'll head out for a bit. Wish I had my sweater here.......btw - before you think it's me, it's not - I'm not the only one with icy hands! lol
btw - woke up to my tiger lilies blooming! So pretty!!! They're the original Orange, and so bright :-)
-Susan-
This is not an uncommon event in our Park each Spring. So far this was the third fawn born in the past two weeks in our neighbours' yard.
After the excitement and picture taking, I proceeded with my watering. Uh Oh...Appears the doe had a post-natal craving for Campanulas last night after the birth. The sweet looking doe below, cleaned out half my Camapanula crop. Don't know whether to laugh or cry. But, it's a gardeners beware, deer friendly city, is Grand Forks. Hopefully the main plants will grow new blossoms over the summer. Going to go cry now...
AHHHHH, not sure what I'm ahhhhhing about..your poor flowers but then take a look at those cutties...imagine having them in your back yard...you got that close to take a photo??
I was awaken during the night at the oddest sounds, first I thought it was the t.v. but the got louder/louder..it sounded like a wounded bird, thought omg I hope my Missy didn't go hunting a birdie, the screaching, so many different sounds, got up and looked out the window to see other neighbors out in the yard with flashlights..apparently it was a raccoon up in a tree...now why it was creating such a commotion I don't know..but never heard so many different type of sounds...
Raccoons can be pretty scary. And can do major damage to ponds, garbage, pets, etc. There was one accrooss the street from our house last week. It was soooo big! I give them a very wide berth when I see them.
Thank you for the photo's...just showed everyone in the office...just too cute...said your flowers went to a good cause...lol
WOW .. lots to catch up on !!
Betty .. I have 4 Fleece Plants that grow like mad !!! They get to be 'maybe' 5' or 6' tall .. look wonderful ..
As far as the Racoon goes, am wondering if something had happened to it's baby (babies) ?
I hear ya on the diaper cake .. I was going to 'do one' for my best buds DIL baby shower until I factored in the cost !!!
Susan .. am wondering if you are hyperglycemic (LOW blood sugar)
My Tiger Lillies are gonna BURST any day !! The Oriental Poppies are at their peak and the Irises have gone .. LOVE Perennials !!!
Don .. OMG!!!!! The pics are precious, and I extend to you my deepest sympathies on the loss of your MOST gorgeous Campanula !!
We have lost the tops from the cucumber plants .. but .. the Does have yet to show us the fawns .. the electric fence around the BIG veg garden is still 95% complete .. needs a gate and then .. 'zee juice' !!!
Bought a new digital camera today .. in the process of charging the battery .. am looking forward to taking pics again !
Off to get dinner started
~M~
How exciting, a new camera...
Ohhhh so glad you told me about the fleece plants..the ones I bought were $11.98 and about 1' high..if they can survive your winters I'm sure mine will be ok..thought I might go get a few more and put out front..do you have yours in direct sunshine or shade???
I'm excited because their was in bloom and just sooo beautiful..
Never thought about the babies...that's most likely the answer...
thanks...
Haven't had supper yet, if I soon don't go eat it will be breakfast..
Picture 'M' of the gardens....
Betty - I don't have the results of the tests yet - I see my Dr. next Monday the 6th, after work. He's terribly difficult to get an app't with.........
I've had different people @ work suggest the same thing. I'm working on not having anything sugary, and I'm feeling better. It's possible I had too much sugar in my system, and it's "flushing out". I'm drinking a lot more water, too, and that's always good :-)
Thank you for asking/caring :-)))
-Susan-
We do care Susan..omg was talking to another dg friend, she's had close relatives pass from pancreatic cancer..she's not been feeling well of late and is on her mind...BUT can't afford right now to have the tests..guess our having to wait a little longer than we feel is ok is still better than having no $$$ to pay for tests... let's hope your results come show just a change in menu...
sister Sharon just sent me photo's of her latest ...
Puppies are always cute and so hard to resist!
Im having a file reorganisation blitz. Ive been storing files in a 3 drawer chest but put too much weight in the drawers and the slides are broken. So half what was in there is on top of the dog crate! I also have just received a big box of the rescue group files which are now my responsibility! I got a little letter size metal file for 5$ from a neighbor but that is in the basement. And I cant be bothered - yet - to go to Ikea and see if I can get new drawer slides.
So yesterday I bought a file cabinet at Staples - opted for wood because it matches my desk ( metal was cheaper though) but spent the last 2 hours putting it together! I also got a cabinet trolley so it is on wheels - which unfortunately dont lock!) Now I need to go thru files and throw out anything I dont really need to keep and then decide what stays upstairs and what goes in the basement! And then I might buy another - metal - file for the basement and get rid of the Ikea chest or I just might trek over to the store and see if I can get new drawer slides. Well no point in rushing things! The drawers have only been broken for 3-4 months!
I had to have the file delivered - too heavy for me to carry - usual story - anytime between 9-5! Guess what he arrived at 9:10am! Sure was pleased about that .
A bit cool out today - it has been sunny but windy so not unhappy to be indoors!
Good luck with your re organizational blitz Carol .. you can come here and do the same thing anytime at all !!!
Have decided that te pics are way too big .. gotta figure out the 'trick' to resize'em ..
Cool here as well .. had the HEAT on in the car !!!
Will share one more pic .. LILLY of course ^_^
~M~
Lilly is so adorable...
"M" that's quite a large garden..I was eyeing up the rhubbarb..lol
Now how old are those fleece plants....
Fancy, sounds like a whole lot of work ahead of you..keep it for rainy days...
Storm coming through at the moment..you feel as though you can touch the clouds..heavy rain pounded garden last night, lots of downed flowers..guess more to come...
Are you enjoying a sunshine day?
What a sweetie! He's the same breed (Westie) as in the Caesars Dog food ads, isn't he?
We are hoarding all the heat down her in Southern BC this week. High again of near 30C. Lovein' it ^_^
We're not even passing the 20's this week..as well, each and every day is rain/rain/rain
Betty it will probably take all summer to complete the project! It is not just all the files.
First lots of things in the basement going to a fund raiser garage sale mid July.
Next all the rescue stuff stored in my basement goes to somebody else who is taking over organising events/fundraiser which will probably happen end July when we have our next rescue fundraiser at a big dog show.
Then call the junk guys and clear out as much as I can bear to get rid of!
Last reorganise the basement! Look at all that empty space! Room to store lots more things! LOL!
well you've your work cut out for you..
This is year 2 for those Fleece plants .. they 'pinken' towards the end of summer .. and .. they LOVE water .. course I planted them behind our fireplace .. so .. have to be pretty careful !!
Don't really use that stone fireplace much anymore as it has become a 'Chipmunk Hotel"
Yes Don, Lilly is a Westie .. and .. a delight ^_^
~M~
Think I'll go pick up a few more "M" they would look lovely in the front gardens..
