Love the pics Betty ..
Susan .. trust me .. you'll have your gardens .. good things come to them that wait :-)
I am off to get ZAPPED tomorrow .. nerve conduction studies on both hands .. not that I'll ever have the surgery .. it's only 50% effective ..
Desperately hoping for a wee bit o rain tonight .. it's been promised ..

One thing I'm really happy about is the rare Indigo Bush I brought home from Winnipeg. It's a prairie native, and I couldn't seem to find it here, in Calgary (a prairie city if ever there was one!!).
I brought it home in May, and planted it 2 weeks ago, so it's very tiny. It was just 3 sticks when I planted it, so now the legume-type leaves are coming up.
Here's a pic of what it WILL look like
Won't take long to mature will it at that rate of growth..love it..
One get get into trouble so easily..
Yesterday morning on my way into work, stopped to purchase a gardening magazine...in it was a triangular planter where there are holes you can just it in plants in their containers so you could easily change it around or make it seasonal..so this morning I left 2 hrs earlier than my usual time..stopped into 2 local lumber yards to look for picket fencing..no go...stopped at a nursery to ask a question, walked out with a Flamingo variegated willow...will grow about 5' high, 3' wide and most of the summer looks like pink/white flower blooms but it's the leaves that create the look of flowers...then off to work...being a 1/2 early still I decided to go to the little lumberyard a block down the street..they had my picket fencing..$1.60 each..need 16 for the back so that's not bad..
The book did not have instructions, just says you can order a kit for $275.+postage...NOT..did figuring, not a difficult project..call my brother to ask a question and ends up I'll be stopping in this afternoon on my way home from work and we'll just 'make it up' lol IF I purchase all the correct materials..
So I'm a happy camper today..
Meant to say "M" when I was at the post office last night they had a poster up looking for people interested in VCARS..wish I didn't have to work, would certainly volunteer...
Nothing like a newborn..sister's American Eskimo justhad 2 boys/2girls...all spoken for..thank goodness or I could say I want me one..lol
Congrats re the birth of those puppies .. can imagine they were spoken for months ago. Lilly's Mom is being bred at Xmas and we are on the list for one of her pups :-)
You'd like VCARS Betty .. only thing I do NOT like too well .. is being on call for the day .. guess I'm kind of a more 'structured' kind of person. but .. i love the work.
Had my nerve conduction studies on my hands this morning .. will need surgery but am opting NOT to as the success rate is 50% or below :0( will have to wear my splints more often .. most particularly the left as the carpal tunnel in that hand is very severe. Hey .. if a numb hand is ALL I have to worry about .. I am happy. Others are facing much greater mountains to climb.
That planter sounds kinda neat .. good luck with it ..
We are cool and rainy today ....

"M" could the operation do more damage then good??? you've been in a lot of pain of late...might it not be worth the chance? Listened to the news this morning and only caught the latter part of it..does it mean Thunder Bay will not be proceeding with the construction of streetcars..will watch t.v. tonight and see what they say.
The surgery might/could/would give me SOME relief from the tingling .. or .. I could be facing 6-8 weeks of incapacity following surgery, and notice little difference.
I'll just have to be more vigilant re wearing my splint .. if I can find the dang thing !!!! Almost ready to pull out the St. Anthony card !!
Mayor Miller and Dalto Mcguinty were in TBay today to give the Provincial monies for the building of the cars .. now it's just waiting on Federal funding. Lots of happy people here :o)
Chinese Food tonight was TOO good .. they have even added some Dim Sum dishes to the buffet !!
Anyone in Calgary who watched the piece on Global Thurs evening re the ducks (Molly and Mel) .. that is a good friend of mine (the woman) who watches out for the ducks as they cross the road in front of her place :-)
OK .. off to search for the splint !!
~M~
Make sure you wear the spling "M" not just find it...congrats to Thunder Bay..let's hope it employs mega people...
Tired tonight so will be off shortly, haven't had anything to eat as yet, Cathy and her mom brought me homemade soup..then a bath and off to bed..tomorrow's another day...
I've wild roses blooming..thought I'd send you some..
Happy Fathers' Day to all your DH's...for those without fathers or DH's to celebrate in the day, sending soft hugs and prayers...I personally find these days emotional..the what could have beens are always there...
Do enjoy the day....
OHHH got to make a planter yesterday with my brother Bernie, only bad part, so laughing, is we don't even know if it will fit in his truck...hoping he will deliver it this morning so I can paint it, bought plants for it so he's stopping progression here..paint brush in hand and no project to paint..
Those stepping stones do look like cement .. good luck with placing them ..
Ended up with 8 for dinner last night .. the turkey was huge, so, I could have fed 12 !!! LoL
Off to the airport today .. Lorna's parents flight leaves at 3:30 .. will likely take them for lunch at the airport.
We reached a HIGH of 32C here in TBay yesterday. Thanked my lucky stars for the A/C as the bird took about 5 hours to cook as well as all the veggies .. we TRIED to sit out last evening, but I finally had to bail as the mosquitoes thought I tasted WAY too good !!! Must try the 'mouthwash' trick I have read about in several emails. Apparently if you spray mouthwash around the area you'll be sitting in .. the skeeters etc will not bother you .. probably an urban legend .. but .. I'll try.
Another sunny day out there .. have LOTS of negelected flowers to tend to .. weeding etc.
Happy Father's Day , AND, SOLSTICE :-)
~M~
CARUMBA Betty .. you and Bernie put together a marvelous planter !!! Looking at the thumbnail before I clicked the pic up .. I thought it was a PIPE ORGAN !!! Really do need to wear my glasses LOL
Enjoy your day
~M~
I really like the new planter, Betty, and those stepping stones are really cool. Your garden always looks gorgeous, and now especially with those "framed" flowers. ^_^
Betty - I could use you to help me choose ornaments for my yard. Great planter.
Have been feverishly gardening before I head to Vancouver tomorrow for a few days. DGD will be 1 on Tuesday although they are having the major party on Saturday, after I've returned home. Bummer. But I've had my flights for quite awhile. I had thought DSIL's parents would be there ahead of me, but it turns out they are arriving on Wednesday (from Kitchener area). DH has already been there on route to Japan where he's at a conference this week. I went along to Japan 3 years ago, decided not to this time.
Have also been organizing the tour part of the church garden tour and strawberry social. But that's already to leave. The date will be July 11 as there was too much happening in June.
Will check in again - likely from Vancouver.
Ann
Travel safe Ann .. and ENJOY :-)
Am 'visitorless' .. kind of a hollow feeling not to be tense and anticipating .. not ALL bad though ^_^
News on the wind has it that some relatives from Ireland MAY be making landfall here in a week or so. Both are Docs (not medical) and have been teaching a course at McGill for a month. As I wouldn't be hosting them, I think it's great news LoL
Time to get back into the yard in earnest .. gonna be a challenge with my hand the way it is .. but .. not impossible ..
Enjoy your week
~M~
Morning,
Thought of you last night Ann, was dozing off watching the show 'how it's made' and it was about 'hand bells' quite interesting but shucks was so tired, fell back asleep..drats, I could have wowed you with my knowledge had I kept awake..lol... you are always on the go, I'm amazed at how you find time for your organizations and gardening...safe flight to you and yours...
"M" there you go back in the garden, got those wrist protectors on? so much anticipation when you are expecting company, good way to clean all those corners you never seem to do...lol...and such a let down when they've gone..I'm sure you both were perfect hosts...
Thanks for the compliments on the planter..this corner area because mostly sand never gets look after..
Perhaps now it will...the wood piece needs to be sanded to give it the 'aged look' but thought I'd let paint dry for a few days before attempting it..
Need higher growth plants..will have to go insearch of some..couple of changes I'd do if I were to make another...not fond of the color either...oh well, always repaint..
Betty - wish I'd seen that show. But I HAVE toured the bell factory which was very interesting. I'm at the airport in the lounge. Board the plane in 10 minutes.
Ann
Wish I was coming with you Ann
I'm here, but my 12:30 flight from Ottawa left at 3:15. For all that time they treated us like mushrooms!
One of our Rose Society members is one of the Judges there. Sounds like a fun show.
Lorna's parents were held back 90 minutes when they left on Sunday .. trapped in the Departure Lounge ..
Betty .. I have to say I LOVE the colour of the planter .. and .. it looks wonderful in that area ..
Feelin kinda bad for the Torontonians on board here .. I was visiting Toronto in 2002 during the last garbage strike .. how many ways can you spell 'smelly and disgusting' .. watched the news coverage last night and was appalled at the 'chippiness' between local members and the public already ... day cares closed as well as public pools .. AND .. I see the LCBO is poised to strike at Midnight the 24th .. kinda bizarre in these tough economic times .. guess ya gotta do whatcha gotta do.
Grocery shopping is on my agenda today .. OOPPPSSS ... dang me .. just swatted a mosquito and it plunked into my keyboard !!!!
Have a good one
~M~ bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Watched the news here as well "M" not going to be a pretty sight or smell if it continues to go on..go on, lordy it just started...not affected by the LCBO..don't drink...
Mass confusion in my life ..
Kyle (GS) called last night to remind me of the graduation supper at 4:30 and graduation ceremony at 6:00 p.m. Would have been nice had someone told me about it..guess he went to talk to dad who came over to help me an hour later put all the heavy pick up objects at the roadside, said 'mom, you knew he was graduating and tickets had to be purchased how could you not think you were invited' shucks, didn't even know anything was going on...soooo had to cancel my much needed perm appt. scheduled for 5:30 tonight..
This morning got up to find a giant size tree down where the back patio is that I've been working on..drats/drats and more drats..not exactly the words I used..so now it has to but cut and cleaned...then just as I was leaving for the office Sailor decided that she didn't want to pee outside...came in and shortly did it on the living room carpet in a few places..so cleaned that up..guess this weekend I'm out to purchase a new one..
Know she's old, but lordy couldn't she go outside when she was out but minutes before...I've been purchasing those Walmart 6 x 8' carpets which only cost around $40/$50. so that if it happens out it goes...should really pick one up tonight so I can put the other at the curb...maybe if they haven't done big object pick up on my street, after Kyles graduation I'll drop in to Walmart...
WHOA .. what grade is Kyle graduating into? Maybe grade 7 ? Have a relative who has her daughter doing that .. cost her over $200. for a DRESS .. plus a hairdo AND .. 5 parents are going together to rent a LIMO !!! Kind of astounded by it all.
Hope all goes well Betty .. your hair will be fine.
Perhaps Sailor did her piddles inside because of the fallen tree ??
It's 30C with a humidex of 36C here right now .. I bought sheets at the Super Store today washed them and put them on the line .. about passed out in the sun !!
Milk (2L of Skim) has RISEN in price by $1.60 here !!! No explanation ..
Guess I should try to figure out dinner .. LEFTOVERS sound promising ^_^
~M~
Glad we don't have the heat you folks have. I can understand how our furry friends have their own needs. I was up at 12:30, 4, and 6 and again a couple of hours later with Cooper. I gave him a special chewy on Sunday evening, it sure was special... he'll never have one of those again. Poor guy, we're lucky he didn't explode with all the gas etc.
Another busy week here. visiting a friends in hospital that's had a minor bleed in her head. Now if only they can get her BP under control. It's our ministers last Sunday this Sunday, after being with us for 15 years. We've planned a service for tomorrow evening that gives a place for grief, loss etc. It's very hard to imagine our church with out her.
2 weeks from now we'll be on the road, off to the Yukon for some R&R.
Dinner, right, I best take something out of the freezer for the BBQ.
TTFN,
Linda
"M" Kyle is graduating from grade 8, after the ceremony it's on to the Miss Midland for a 3hr. tour on Georgian Bay..music/dancing...laughed, Greg who doesn't drink at all, never has had an interest in it was telling me last night that Kyle and the class were going on a booze cruise, I said 'what kind of cruise is that for 13 yr. olds'..said 'no mom, made a mistake, it's a boat cruise...' so funny...
Lot of acreage "M" doesn't need to be anywhere near that fallen tree...think she's getting old and can't hold herself...although annoying I feel bad that I know the day is coming..
Oh Linda, how long are you going to the Yukon? or is it where your summer lodgings are??? old age setting in, can't remember..
Will add your friend to my prayer list...hard when you get accustomed to a Minister and then they move on..is it her choice or just her term now ended...
Linda .. we gave Lilly some kinda "CHEW BONE' a bit ago .. OHMY .. she literally decimated it, much like Cooper .. and .. sure enough .. she had a 'gastric upset' and we will NOT buy that again.
Lorna's Aunt and Uncle are heading for YellowKnife as I type this .. they pull a honkin fifth wheel !!!
Just enjoy your R&R .
15 years as a Minister in One place is very impressive .. I hope she does well wherever she goes . Hope the service tomorrow goes well and I sure do have my fingers and toes crossed re your buds BP.
Am hoping all goes well for you and your family tonight Betty .. am sure Greg will be vigilant ... he and I are alike in the 'drinking' aspect .. I mostly leave it as opposed to having it .. has never done much for me but make me ill .. that said though .. I do enjoy the occasional glass of GOOD wine :-)
Left over Maple glazed Ham and 2 kinds of perogies and corn on the cob constituted dinner .. which is why I can hardly MOVE .. but .. I have to .. Lilly needs a walk
Still 36C here .. so .. it's gonna be a quickie !!!

~M~
Did enjoy myself..I'll share a few photo's...then bedtime I go..can't believe how emotional sometimes I get..all the time the ceremony was going on I was thinking of all that Roger missed..not his fault he died..but keep thinking how proud he'd be of his boys, what great fathers' they are..and grandchildren, never knowing them never experiencing some of the joys..need I say I'm crying..so best place when you get this emotional is to head for bed..
but, before I do, will post a few photo's
Kyle and grandma
Grandma is a pretty hot looking chick! Love that outfit; and your hair looks great, even without the perm.
So glad you were able to attend and enjoy your Grandson's Grad. He'll always remember you being there to help celebrate too.
I wish we all had "silly women" like that in our lives. What a wonderful friend. ^_^
Wonderful pics Betty .. congrats to Kyle :-)
WHOA .. now that is SOME friend !!! AND .. a large tree .. bless her .. she's golden ^_^
Final tally on the temp here yesterday .. 39C .. some of the windows are steamy this morning .. one more day of it and we go back to 22-23C .. sure need some rain though ..
Enjoy your day everyone
