Comments regarding Territorial Seed Company

Very quick delivery. Everything I ordered, save for the potato starts, arrived together. (The potatoes will come when the time is right for planting.)

1st time purchasing from them. I'm pleased.

I ordered a large quantity of seeds and some strawberry plants (They arrive in March) from this company on 1/19 and received my seeds in less than a week. They can be a little on the pricey side, but you get a generous quantity of seeds and I've always had good results with germination rates and species correctness.
I also love their large selection and the fact that you have a choice of seed pack sizes with most of their items. The seed packs include all the necessary (and correct!) information to get your plants off to a good start...something I haven't found with some other companies.
I will definitely order from them again and recommend them to others!

Been ordering from Territorial for several years now - so long I cannot remember. Orders have been complete, and prompt, germination is consistently good (even after seeds are couple years old). Recently had a problem with a rhubarb tuber purchased from them that just wouldn't grow properly - got small initial leaves and then crown appeared to rot. I contacted the company and they ran me through things to check and suggestions which I tried - and now it is growing like a weed. The item had been in the ground for one season and was still struggling - as was the gardener - a lot of companies would have told me it was my problem. They were still willing to support the customer in getting the item to grow. I really appreciate the service I have received from them. This season I branched out a little and ordered some items from other companies - and learned my lesson - will return to this "old standard" where the products are reliable and service good!.

I've ordered from Territorial for about 6 years now because their plants are tested on their farm in the Pacific NW. I only order seeds. I've always been satisfied and they don't skimp. They try earnestly to answer my questions quickly. Their website is easy to order from and my seeds seem to always do great since I also live in the Pacific NW.

I ordered a "garden hod" and some seeds for a Christmas gift and got them in a timely manner, well-packed, and for a fair price.

This fall was my third order with Territorial. Previously I had ordered seed, asparagus roots, seed potatoes, and onion sets, this time it was several garlics and shallots. The packaging is good, but the plants/roots/seeds are great. Territorial is one of my top three favorite places for onion sets and seed potatoes, and now is also one of my favorites for garlic/shallots.

This is a great company. I have had very good results with their flower and vegetable seeds and with their garden supplies.

I used to grow my own tomato starts from seed or buy them locally but this year I just ordered the plants from Territorial. They weren't huge but arrived promptly and on time. I put them in the ground the same day. Plants are flourishing and already have tomatoes on them after only 2 months!! Here it is June 3rd, and most plants have tomatoes!
I will order again next year.

Great service, great prices, good quality and extensive selection. Ordered both seeds and live plants this year and was impressed with quality. Live plants were packaged very carefully. Still one tomato plant was damaged. I called and they are sending a replacement. I'll order even more from them next year!

I have ordered plants from Territorial Seed Co. for the last 4 years. Every year my tomato, herb and bell pepper plants arrived in good shape. Any problems were quickly fixed by the company. They have replaced plants promptly and I was even able to order a replacement plant when the fault was mine (wall o water fell over and crushed a plant). All of my friends have been awed by the healthy plants I grew from the small seedlings. I planted my tomato plants April 20th in my Ogden, Utah garden with protection. Of the 8 plants I planted, 5 of them already have blossoms. I give Territorial Seed Co. a big thumbs up. I will continue to order plants from them as they thrive in my garden every year.

Territorial's catalog is full of helpful, clear culture information. This Spring, I placed a seed order, and the seeds ended up getting lost in the mail. When I contacted the company, they quickly sent me a replacement order. The customer service people with whom I spoke were very pleasant and helpful. Last, but not least, the seeds have germinated well. Territorial has earned my repeat business!

I had received catalogs in the past, but didn't have time or space for vegetable gardening. Now that I've moved, I have both time and space. Placed original order based partly on ratings from Dave's Garden Watchdog listing and because of the helpful catalog. Recd order in less than a week - order was acurate and well packaged. It isn't time to plant out all of the seeds that I ordered yet, but the ones I have started so far have exceded stated germination rates - the tomatoes being at 100% for each of the several varieties that I ordered, and the bell peppers at 95%. Peas go in the ground this weekend. I'm very pleased. Thank you.

I received the seeds in two days!! I ordered seeds from another company on the same day and still have not received them, nor heard from them. Territorial also included instructions with the watermelons and additional seeds of another cultivar so that the flowers would be pollinated. I will defiantly be ordering from them again.

I ordered from Territorial for the first time via their web site on 1/24. I received my seed on 1/31 and I am way across the country. The order was correct and complete. A good company.

I ordered a few days ago and got my order in 2 days! (Okay, I'm in the same state, but still....) I always get good germination and I like their varieties and prices. One of my favorite seed companies.

I have only ordered from Territorial once (Rotenone-Pyrethrin); not sure that I would use the product again, but the company is good.

This was my first time ordering from Territorial, after getting their catalog for several years. I can't believe how fast my order arrived -- less than a week from mailing my order to receipt of the seeds! I like the selection and prices very much.

I have only been dealing with this company for the past 2 years, and all of my experience has been excellent!

I recently ordered tomato plants (6) from them, and at first, they were rather small and "wimpy-looking", but boy, did they grow! I was very impressed!

Germination has been excellent with the seeds I have purchased from them! I frequently grow greens inside during the winter for my guinea pigs, and they have shipped them out very fast! The pea seeds that I purchased from them this year were fantastic! The best, so far!

I've been ordering seeds almost exclusively from Territorial for the last couple years. They have a great selection and their catalog provides all the information I need to grow my entire vegetable garden; it's an indispensable resource in itself. Last year the plants I got from them were really quite covered with aphids. I called to let them know that they might have an aphid problem in their greenhouse and they offered to replace my plants, but I opted to just wash them off myself. Their seeds have always been in great shape and germinated without any trouble. I think their seeds are appropriate for most any gardener, but especially those of us in the Northwest.

I've been ordering seeds from this company for years now, always very happy; they are the standard for me for seeds, against which all other companys are judged. I've also got "stuff" from them a lot. When my grow-lights had a problem (after 3 years of use), there was some difficulty actually reaching them on the phone (early spring busy time; the answering service who takes orders wasn't helpful, but leaving a message at the store got a callback pretty soon). But they got someone from the manufucturer to call me and sent out replacement metal connectors at no charge and it's as good as new; I was very impressed.

Placed an online order with Territorial Seeds in early March on a Sunday. Monday morning a pleasant woman called from the company because I had a typo in my credit card. (I have dealt with other companies that have cancelled orders completely without notice for similar infractions).

Most of the order was seeds - these arrived within 7 days. Only about 1/2 the seedlings survived but I am chalking that up to my impatience (put them out before memorial day) and an unusually prolonged cold wet spring. Those that survived the harsh conditions are doing fine.

The rest of the order was tomoto and hot pepper plants. I was told that these would be sent to me in mid-May. They arrived on May 17th. This was the best packaging I have seen for seedlings. These plants are thriving!

Will order from Territorial Seed again!

First off, let me say that my experience with Customer Service was great, and that's why this rating is Neutral instead of Negative. I really wanted to give this company a Positive rating, and I'm disappointed that things didn't go that way.

I ordered a batch of plants from Territorial--tomatoes, peppers, and herbs. I particularly wanted the 'Orange Balsam' thyme, specifically asked about its availability, and was told it was available, so I placed an order for it and the other plants. Had 'OB' thyme not been available, I wouldn't have ordered. Unfortunately, when the order arrived, not only was there no 'Orange Balsam' thyme (the company had substituted lemon thyme at no cost, but forgot to subtract the shipping), but the plants were covered with aphids. (I was surprised at how very small the plants were, but only complained about the aphids.) Customer Service bent over backwards to refund the shipping and replace what few plants were still available, but when they arrived, they too were infested. Again, CS was great; they apologized and refunded my money. I've still lost a growing season, though, and will not order plants from Territorial again, although I will probably order seeds.

I have always been pleased with my results from Territorial's seeds. This year, I ordered 25 plants. Out of all of them 3 of the 6 grosso lavender died within days of receipt. The other plants were all healthy and are thriving in the garden. The Customer Service person was kind, helpful and quick to offer replacements when I called. I would order from them again.

I ordered several plants from Territorial Seeds after seeing all the great reviews on this website. I received my plants from Territorial and plants from another Watchdog 30 company yesterday - and I've got to tell you - after seeing both sets of plants side by side, on the same day, I am not that impressed with Territorial's quality. The plants are tiny and were not packed well at all compared to their competitor. As a matter of fact, several arrived out of their cells and looking pretty bad. I was so disappointed. I called the company to let them know about the plants poor condition and was pleased with how helpful they were. Their customer service is great, hence the neutral not negative rating. They are sending replacements of all my damaged plants. I hope this next shipment doesn't disappoint. I have heard great things about their seeds, but I don’t think I’ll be purchasing plants from them again in the future.

This was my first year ordering from territorial seed, 1 item had to be back ordered, I called about it and they were pleasent and professional and told me the back ordred item would be sent as soon as possible, I got it soon afterward, it was the romano gold beans if I remember correctly. I order from several companies like baker creek, seed savers exchange and seeds of change, I will see how territorial seed fares this season, I ordered some blue hubbard squash and am anxious to see how it performs.

I have been using their seeds for about 4 years and am completely satisfied. Very excellent germination rates and good selection. The catalogue reads like a text book and is very useful, even when not ordering seeds. I will continue to use them and have always received what I had ordered. Excellent for backyard gardening.

I ordered seeds, plants, and supplies from them in 2003, and was pleased enough to order even more from them in 2005 (no 2004 garden). Highly recommended for Pacific NW gardeners - Steve Solomon's "Growing Vegetables West of the Cascades), which is listed in their catalog.

I called a rep with a few questions before finalizing my online order. She (Jennifer) was very helpful, and willing to find info for me before I placed my order. Prices were very comparable, esp for hard to find varieties, heirlooms, and organics. Great selection of tomatoes too! I will definitely shop with them again.

I bought a lot of seeds from them last year and the seeds did OK. I did email them last year and got no response from them. I wanted to sell their seeds in a veggie market that I am working on getting open, but I got no answer. This year I got their catalog in february. I hate to tell them but most serious gardeners have allready bought their seeds. I also noticed that their prices have gone up about 25%. $10.50 for 1# of seed potatoes. Give me a break. I really think that they are getting to big for their britches and that thyey have forgotten about us little guys. I have found many good companies out there and I doubt that I will be buying from them again.

I have been a customer of Territorial Seed nearly from it's beginnings. They have become my most favorite source of seed, so much so that having now moved from the Cascades of Oregon to Atlantic Maritime Canada, I can not bring myself to give them up. I intend to order the bulk of my garden seed from them again this year. They are honest and reliable, the variety and quality of seed they carry is outstanding, and thier bulk seeds in particular are an excellent value as well.

I find Territorial's free catalog to be the most informative of all. It is excellent reading, and contains more detailed growing information than is found in many of my gardening books.

It is a good feeling to order from Territorial. I like their dedication to the environment, offering organic seed whenever possible, (They grow much of the organic seed they offer, on their own farm.) and it is good to see so many quality, open pollinated choices.They are exceptionally dedicated to research and exploration of valuable nearly forgotten varieties from around the world, as well as outstanding newer varieties. There are many treasures in Territorial's catalog that can't be found elswhere.

I highly recommend Territorial to anyone. All in all, this family business is truly outstanding in every way.

I received my seed order within a couple days of ordering online. I had accidently provided an incorrect email address: It was corrected promptly after I notified Territorial. The product and service are first rate. I would definitely order again from this company.

My first order from Territorial came quickly and there were no problems. Can't report on germination rate yet. I ordered from this company because they carried a more unusual Ca. poppy cultivar I'd been looking for. I was happy to find it in the seed quantity offered.

I've purchased from Teritorial Seed a few times. No issues what so ever. I'd purchase from them again. Seeds were as described and arrived timely.

Ordered garlic for the fall - realized later that I needed some seeds too. Sent an e-mail asking to add on the seeds to my order and received a prompt reply, and my seeds three days later!

Every variety of seed I purchased germinated. Each packet had many more seeds that germinated than I expected. The company has always been very helpful and friendly. I recently received my first shipment of live plants from them, and they arrived in perfect order!

as i live in oregon, territorial is the source for many of our garden seeds, but i am so far not impressed with the germination rate. also, i bought a package of "anise hyssop" seeds, and the resulting plants were hyssop, alright, but there was no hint of the anise flavor i get from the anise hyssop plant i bought from a local nursery. i wrote territorial a note to the effect that the seeds could not have been anise hyssop. never heard a word. for a small, family owned business, i expected at least a comment from them and maybe even a packet of the correct seeds!

The plants I received were what I would consider to be poorly packed. They were out of their pots and look like they won't make it. Having said that, I just phoned and they offered me a replacement or a credit, no questions asked.

Bottom line: they need a new packing system, but they have first rate customer service.
